As our business continues to grow, we are looking for an enthusiastic and customer-focused First Line IT Support Engineer to join our IT team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within a supportive and forward-thinking legal practice.

The successful candidate will provide first-line technical support to colleagues across the firm, assisting with hardware, software and Microsoft 365 issues, whilst gaining exposure to a wide range of technologies and IT projects.

Key Responsibilities

IT Support

• Provide first-line technical support to colleagues across the firm via telephone, email, remote support and in person.
• Log, prioritise and resolve IT support requests through the helpdesk system.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, printer, mobile device and peripheral issues.
• Escalate more complex technical issues where appropriate.

User Administration

• Assist with creating and managing user accounts within Microsoft 365 and Active Directory.
• Reset passwords and maintain user permissions.
• Support mailbox administration and user onboarding/offboarding.

Hardware & Software

• Prepare, configure and deploy laptops, desktops, monitors, mobile phones and other IT equipment.
• Install and configure approved software applications.
• Maintain IT equipment inventory and asset records.
• Assist with hardware replacements and office moves.

Infrastructure Support

• Assist the wider IT team with routine maintenance of servers, cloud services and network infrastructure.
• Support Microsoft 365 services including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive.
• Assist with software updates and security patching.
• Help maintain remote access solutions including VPN and Citrix.

Projects

• Support IT projects including hardware refreshes, software deployments and office relocations.
• Assist with testing and implementing new technologies.
• Liaise with third-party suppliers where required.

Documentation & Security

• Keep accurate records within the IT helpdesk system.
• Produce user guides and technical documentation where appropriate.
• Follow all IT security policies and report any security concerns promptly.
• Promote good cyber security practices across the firm.

Travel

• Travel to GT Stewart offices across England to provide onsite support and assist with IT installations and maintenance when required.

Person Specification

Essential

• Previous experience within an IT support or service desk environment.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10 and Windows 11.
• Experience supporting Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365 applications.
• Experience configuring laptops, desktops and printers.
• Basic understanding of Active Directory.
• Basic networking knowledge including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and VPN.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving ability with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritise workload and work independently.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.

Desirable

• Experience supporting Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD).
• Exposure to Microsoft Intune or Mobile Device Management.
• Experience supporting Citrix environments.
• Experience supporting cloud-based telephony systems.
• Knowledge of legal case management systems such as Partner for Windows.
• Microsoft, CompTIA or ITIL certifications.
