Role: Firmware Engineer – Senior / Mid / Junior
Country: Poland
Location: Gdańsk (Hybrid)
Contract Type: Full Time, UoP
Department: R&D / Engineering
About the Role
Aritech has been a trusted name in the security industry for decades, with a portfolio recognized for reliability, innovation and performance.
We are growing our Firmware Engineering team in Gdańsk and are looking for Firmware Engineers at different stages of their careers — with a primary focus on Mid-Level and Senior Engineers, while also welcoming applications from talented Junior Engineers with a strong interest in embedded systems and firmware development.
You will contribute to the development and evolution of ARITECH security systems and accessories for the EMEA market, working across the full firmware development lifecycle — from requirements and technical specifications, through design and implementation, to testing, troubleshooting and production support.
Depending on your experience level, you may take ownership of individual features and products, contribute to technical and architectural decisions, or work alongside experienced engineers while developing your embedded software expertise.
You will work on products such as security panels, keypads, touchscreens, card readers, sirens and sensors, collaborating closely with Hardware Engineering, Product Management, Quality Assurance, Compliance, Cybersecurity and global R&D teams.
As a Firmware Engineer, you will:
• Develop and maintain firmware for wired and wireless security devices and accessories.
• Implement firmware changes and new functionality across products such as Panels, Keypads, Touchscreens, Card Readers, Sirens and Sensors.
• Participate in the full firmware development lifecycle, from requirements and specification through design, implementation, testing and production support.
• Develop embedded software using C and, where applicable, C++.
• Work with bare-metal and RTOS-based environments, including FreeRTOS.
• Develop and maintain communication functionality using interfaces such as RS485 and wireless technologies.
• Contribute to solutions requiring low-power operation, real-time performance and efficient resource utilization.
• Participate in hardware-software integration and contribute to system and firmware architecture discussions.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and support root-cause analysis, debugging and bug fixing.
• Use development and debugging tools such as SWD/JTAG debuggers, logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
• Contribute to firmware security mechanisms, including secure boot and secure firmware update solutions.
• Support verification, validation, certification and production activities.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, design specifications and development guidelines.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Hardware Engineering, QA, Compliance and Cybersecurity teams.
• Work closely with local and globally distributed engineering teams to ensure effective knowledge sharing and consistent implementation.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes, tools and development practices.
For Junior Engineers, responsibilities will be appropriately tailored to experience level and may include working under the guidance of experienced engineers, contributing to defined development tasks, testing and debugging, and gradually taking ownership of more complex firmware features.
What We Are Looking For
For Mid-Level and Senior Engineers
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, Communication Systems or a related technical field.
• Professional experience in firmware or embedded software development using C.
• Solid experience with embedded platforms and microcontrollers.
• Practical experience with bare-metal and/or RTOS-based development.
• Experience with ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers, such as STM32 or similar platforms.
• Experience with embedded communication interfaces or protocols, ideally including RS485 and/or wireless communication.
• Understanding of embedded systems constraints such as memory, processing resources, timing and power consumption.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills, including experience with hardware debugging tools.
• Experience with Git and modern version-control workflows.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
• Good spoken and written English.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
• Proactive attitude, ownership and willingness to collaborate with colleagues across different locations and time zones.
For Junior Engineers
We are also open to candidates at the beginning of their firmware/embedded careers who demonstrate strong technical foundations, curiosity and motivation to develop in this area.
For Junior candidates, we are looking for:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, Communication Systems or a related technical field.
• Basic knowledge of C or C++.
• Academic, personal or internship experience with embedded systems or microcontrollers is desirable.
• Basic understanding of electronics and embedded software concepts.
• Interest in firmware development and embedded technologies.
• Willingness to learn and develop technical skills under the guidance of experienced engineers.
• Good spoken and written English.
• A proactive attitude, problem-solving mindset and ability to work collaboratively.
Nice to Have
• Experience with FreeRTOS or another embedded RTOS.
• Experience with STM32, TI MSPM0 or similar ARM Cortex-M platforms.
• Experience developing firmware for low-power embedded devices.
• Experience with secure bootloaders and secure firmware updates.
• Basic understanding of cryptographic concepts such as hashing, signing and encryption.
• Experience with wireless communication technologies used in embedded systems.
• Experience working with products through verification, certification and high-volume production.
• Experience working with internationally distributed engineering teams.
• Familiarity with Scrum/Agile development methodologies.
What We Offer
• Stable employment in a mature international engineering environment.
• Opportunities for career growth and professional development.
• A culture that encourages independence, creativity and continuous learning.
• The opportunity to work with experienced engineers and global R&D teams.
