Job Description

About us: iconic brand, tiny company.
Polaroid was founded in 1937 by one of the most seminal innovators of the 20th century, Edwin Land. His motto was, “don’t undertake a project unless it is manifestly important and nearly impossible.” In 2008, Polaroid shuttered its last factory, but a group of diehard fans came together as The Impossible Project to save instant film. Over 10 years later, that startup acquired what was left of Polaroid, and today we’re again a small group of people passionate about changing the world through great products.

At Polaroid, we are evolving our instant photography platform by integrating modern digital imaging technologies into our instant camera systems. We are seeking a Firmware / Embedded Systems Engineer to join our team working on the next-generation of instant camera, integrating digital image capture with analog printing mechanisms.

What you’ll do

  • Design, implement, and maintain embedded firmware in C for battery-powered devices.

  • Develop robust applications and drivers on top of FreeRTOS.

  • Debug complex hardware-software issues and drive root-cause resolution.

  • Work closely with electrical, mechanical, optics, product, and manufacturing teams.

  • Support bring-up, validation, and production line development activities.

  • Contribute to continuous improvements in quality, reliability, and performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

  • 5+ years of experience building embedded products.

  • Experience building battery-powered consumer or portable devices.

  • Strong problem-solving mindset and practical engineering approach.

  • Comfortable working with people from different disciplines.

  • Open to new challenges and ambiguity in fast-moving product development.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with LVGL.

  • Familiarity with image processing algorithms.

  • Familiarity with image sensor tuning.

  • Experience with BLE stack integration/development.

  • Experience in production line development and manufacturing test support.

Why join us

  • Work on iconic products that blend analog heritage with modern digital technology.

  • Join a small, high-impact team where ownership and collaboration matter.

  • Help shape the next generation of instant imaging experiences.
