Job Description

DELIVER SOLUTIONS THAT MATTER.

EVERY HOME YOU WORK IN DESERVES YOUR BEST.

Craftsmanship, safety, and pride — on every job.

DuraServ is looking for a Fireplace and Residential Door Technician who installs with precision, reads blueprints with confidence, and leaves every job site better than they found it.

Fireplace & Residential Door Technician | Residential Field Service | Install Right. Every Time.

This Is Skilled Trades Work — And It Shows in Every Installation.

DuraServ's Fireplace and Residential Door Technicians install gas and wood-burning fireplaces, ventilation systems, and garage doors in new construction and residential retrofit environments. Every job requires reading blueprints, fabricating sheet metal components, interpreting technical manuals, and ensuring every installation meets code compliance and manufacturer specifications — in homes where the quality of your work lives long after you leave the job site.

This role is for someone who takes craftsmanship seriously — who uses tools correctly, documents their work accurately, communicates professionally with customers and project managers, and holds themselves to a standard that doesn't require anyone to check behind them.

If you take pride in work that's done right the first time — in a home where someone will live — this role was built for you.

What You'll Do

The Installations

  • Install gas and wood-burning fireplaces in new construction and residential retrofit environments — reading blueprints, interpreting schematics, and following technical manuals to every specification
  • Install garage doors in new construction and residential retrofit environments with the accuracy and attention to detail that a homeowner's daily use demands
  • Fabricate, assemble, and install sheet metal components for venting systems, chase covers, and other fireplace-related components using hand and power tools in accordance with manufacturer specs and company safety protocols

The Standard

  • Ensure all work meets building code compliance and company quality standards — you know the codes, you follow the specs, and you don't leave a job until it's right
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and parts used — your records are complete, clear, and submitted on time
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, project managers, and team members — your professionalism on the job site reflects the DuraServ standard
  • Work safely on ladders and residential rooftops above 20 feet — safety protocols are non-negotiable on every active job site
  • Assist with warehouse organization, inventory, and other duties as assigned — you're a team member on and off the job site

Who You Are

You don't rush a venting installation to finish early. You don't skip a documentation step because no one is watching. And you don't leave a homeowner's property without knowing the job is right.

  • Mechanically capable — you're comfortable with hand and power tools, sheet metal fabrication, and residential construction environments in various stages of completion
  • Blueprint-literate — you can read and interpret construction documents, schematics, and technical manuals without needing it explained to you
  • Safety-conscious — you work on active job sites alongside other trades, at heights above 20 feet, in interior and exterior conditions; you follow safety protocols because you understand what's at stake
  • Code-aware — you know relevant building codes and manufacturer specifications well enough to ensure every installation is compliant before you close the job
  • A professional communicator — customers are in their homes or nearby; how you talk to them, how you treat their space, and how you explain your work reflects directly on DuraServ
  • Detail-oriented — documentation, parts tracking, and accurate records are part of doing the job right, not an afterthought

What We're Looking For

Required

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and work safely on ladders and residential rooftops above 20 feet
  • Proficient and safe use of hand and power tools — drills, impact drivers, saws, shears, and related equipment
  • Ability to work in residential homes at various stages of construction, including exterior settings and active job sites with other trades present

Preferred

  • 0–1 year of experience in construction, HVAC, or a related skilled trades environment — entry-level candidates with the right work ethic are encouraged to apply
  • Familiarity with gas or wood-burning fireplace systems, ventilation, or garage door installation
  • Experience reading blueprints, schematics, or technical manuals in a construction or mechanical context
  • Knowledge of residential building codes and code-compliant installation practices

What's in It for You

  • Competitive hourly pay commensurate with experience
  • Full benefits package: medical, dental, vision, and 401K with company match
  • Company-provided life insurance, short-term and long-term disability
  • On-the-job training in fireplace and garage door installation — we develop the skills of people who bring the right foundation
  • A team that holds craftsmanship and safety as non-negotiable standards — not aspirational ones
  • No planned business travel — your work is local, in your community
  • A growing residential service operation with advancement opportunities for technicians who perform

A Note to the Right Candidate.

If you've been in a construction or trades environment where the standard was "close enough" — where documentation was optional and code compliance was someone else's problem — this is a different environment.

DuraServ's residential technicians install in homes. The homeowner lives there. The fireplace you install will be used for years. The garage door you hang will be operated thousands of times. We hire people who take that seriously — and we give them the team, the training, and the tools to do it right.

Deliver solutions that matter. In every home. On every job. That's the standard here.

Please note: This is a field-based role working in residential homes and active construction sites. No planned business travel is required.
