Summary

OCFD is looking for Firefighter/Paramedic and Firefighter/EMT positions in 2027. You could be one of them!

We are looking for skilled Firefighter/Paramedics and/or Firefighter/EMS clinicians to become full-time or part-time members of our team. Individuals must be at least 18 years of age and meet the following requirements at the time of application:

1. High School Diploma or GED
2. Valid National Registry Paramedic / Maryland Paramedic for those applying for FF/Paramedic

1. Valid National Registry EMT / Maryland EMT for those applying for FF/EMT

(must upload to application)

1. Maryland Firefighter I certification, National Pro-Board Firefighter I certification or equivalent at the time of application

1. Current BLS Healthcare Provider or Professional Rescuer CPR certified

(must upload to application)

1. Valid Maryland Class C driver’s license or the equivalent of a state of license; (Maryland Class B driver’s license preferred)

Starting Compensation*

Firefighter/EMT - Basic $22.54/hour / $52,743.60 annual

Firefighter/EMT - Intermediate $24.73/hour / $57,868.20 annual

Firefighter/Paramedic - new $27.13/hour / $63,484.20 annual

Firefighter/Paramedic - experienced $28.48/hour / $66,643.20 annual

*Based on 45-hour work week

Annual bonuses (up to $2000) for part-time personnel working needed shifts/volume.

Additional $250 bonus for rescue swimmer certification/operation.

This job will stay open for applications until December 13, 2026. Candidates who are eligible to test for a position will be notified in early January. Testing date is January 23, 2027.

Successful applicants are subject to a criminal background check and a post-offer drug test.
