Perform visual inspections, annual maintenance, internal examinations, and hydrostatic testing.
Identify and document fire extinguisher components, agent type, manufacturer details, and maintenance history.
Install and mount extinguishers in compliance with NFPA standards.
Conduct repairs and recharging of extinguishers.
Ensure the safe use and maintenance of tools and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Maintain accurate documentation of all service activities.
Install initiating and notification devices, cabling, and related infrastructure.
Perform periodic testing and maintenance of alarm systems and devices.
Replace, repair, or clean impaired/deficient components.
Support system commissioning and submittal documentation.
Develop work plans and coordinate tasks with team members and clients.
Comply with OSHA, NFPA, and other applicable regulations.
Recognize hazards and apply mitigation strategies in the field.
Understand and implement MSDS usage, proper lifting techniques, and basic first aid.
Operate electronic safety equipment and respiratory protection when required.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
At least 1 year of experience in fire protection services or a related industry (e.g., petrochemical or oil refinery).
Valid state driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance.
Clean driving record and ability to be insured under company policy.
Ability and willingness to travel for short- and long-term out-of-town assignments.
Must be able to obtain a TWIC card and pass safety training courses (e.g., Basic Plus, OSHA 10-Hour).
Must be physically fit to wear respiratory protection and pass a fit test.
Licensing & Certification Requirements
Required:
Fire Extinguisher License – Type B (FEL-B)
Fire Alarm License (FAL)
Preferred:
State Fire Licenses as required OR ability to pass NICET Level II within 12 months of hire.
Knowledge & Skills
Strong understanding of fire equipment components and systems.
Familiarity with regulatory standards (OSHA, NFPA, CFR).
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Skilled in basic troubleshooting, installation, and maintenance of fire safety equipment.
Strong communication and team collaboration skills.
Ability to manage documentation and coordinate work activities efficiently.
