Suppression technicians are responsible for delivering outstanding customer service with tasks related to the installation, modification, inspection, troubleshooting, servicing, and maintenance of Fire Suppression Systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, test, and maintain a variety of fire suppression systems, including clean agent systems, dry chemical, CO2, foam, and other special hazards fire protection applications.

  • Perform routine inspections, service, and maintenance tasks on wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, and foam systems in commercial, industrial, and residential buildings. This includes inspecting, testing, cleaning components, and verifying system functionality.

  • Perform testing of suppression system components, including alarms, pressure gauges, and release mechanisms.

  • Identify, troubleshoot, and diagnose issues and malfunctions with fire suppression systems, resolving them efficiently to bring systems back to normal working conditions.

  • Be willing to perform routine inspections of fire extinguishers to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.

  • Provide exceptional customer service to clients by addressing inquiries, concerns, and service requests promptly and professionally.

  • Communicate effectively with clients to explain the condition of their fire suppression systems, providing instruction and education on system operation, functionality, best practices, and emergency response procedures.

  • Providing emergency service to investigate and diagnose alarm and trouble conditions to determine cause and take corrective action.

  • Manage job scheduling and job progress in an efficient and cost-effective manner, with a strong focus on quality.

  • Maintaining accurate and precise documentation of all work orders daily, including completing and submitting all required task-related, activity, productivity, and thorough inspection reports with customer signatures to the inspection manager in a timely manner.

  • Ensure proper maintenance, care, and upkeep of all company-provided equipment, including trucks, lifts, and tools.

  • Maintaining a clean and safe work environment with strict attention to all safety requirements, demonstrating an understanding of and adherence to all safety regulations and practices.

  • Making sure all work complies with relevant local, state, and national codes and regulations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What We Are Looking For

  • Knowledge/experience installing, repairing, and servicing suppression systems in a commercial environment.

  • Nicet Certification in Suppression preferred.

  • Possess related licensing/certification or be able to become licensed/certified.

  • Must be comfortable working from a lift and ladders.

  • Working knowledge of computer networking, IP addresses, etc.

  • Must have valid driver's license and clean driving record to operate company vehicle or use personal vehicle to work.

  • Must display professional appearance and demeanor along with outstanding customer service and communication skills.

  • Must be a self-motivated worker with the demonstrated ability to contribute to team operations, performing all work in an efficient, organized, and cost-effective manner.

  • Must be able to climb ladders, operate high lift equipment, and carry and move work materials.

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and is occasionally required to lift and/or move heavy objects.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

  • Comfortable working in various environments, including industrial facilities, commercial buildings, and outdoor settings, which can potentially expose employees to noise, dust, heat stress, thermal stress, low light conditions, heights, etc.

  • Capable of standing, walking, bending and kneeling for extended periods.

  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces as needed, which would require use of fall protection equipment and other safety devices.

  • Capable of using hand and power tools, including specialty tools resulting in cutting, grinding, drilling, fastening and other methods resulting in torque, vibration, noise, etc.

Hiller also offers a variety of products and parts to support our customers. These products include portable and fixed fire extinguishers, hoses, hose reels, nozzles, foam and other material/equipment involved in fire detection and suppression. We also provide safety equipment such as gloves, fire resistant clothing, safety glasses, masks, air breathing apparatus and other similar items. These products are sold from inventory or shipped directly to our customers from our vendors.

The following vendors we have on schedule include Ansul, Amerex, Kidde, Siemens, Survivair, Akron Brass and Gentex, just to name a few.
