About the role
The primary purpose of the Fire Safety Specialist position is to provide technical expertise to ensure that fire safety considerations are effectively incorporated into project design and implementation. The role supports the safe execution of project activities by overseeing compliance with applicable fire safety standards during design and installation phases.
Job Responsibilities
Review detailed designs of buildings and facilities to ensure integration of fire detection, protection, and evacuation systems in compliance with national fire codes and international standards (e.g., NFPA, IFC).
Assess fire safety adequacy related to escape routes, emergency exits, fire compartmentalization, and fire-resistant construction materials.
Recommend necessary modifications to enhance fire safety and ensure compatibility with site-specific conditions (e.g., layout, occupancy, hazards).
Provide technical inputs on quantities, cost estimates, and installation timelines related to fire safety systems within the design report
Monitor the installation of fire detection, alarm, suppression (e.g., sprinklers, hydrants), and evacuation systems to ensure compliance with approved designs and specifications.
Inspect fire safety components for quality, proper placement, and integration with architectural and MEP systems.
Guide contractors and suppliers on regulatory requirements and best practices for fire safety system installation and testing.
Verify operational performance through system testing, commissioning, and ensure certifications are issued by competent authorities.
Maintain detailed records of fire safety inspections, non-compliance issues, rectifications, and certifications.
Key Requirements
Bachelor degree in architecture
Min. 7 years of experience in the design and installation of the fire safety systems of buildings
Proven experience in reviewing and validating fire safety designs, including fire detection, alarm, suppression, and evacuation systems
Demonstrated ability to supervise installation, testing, and commissioning of fire protection systems
