Fire Protection Project Engineer (Remote)

Base Salary: $110K–$135K

About the Role

The Fire Protection Project Engineer will lead engineering tasks and design fire protection systems for a variety of commercial projects. This role involves performing calculations, supervising design staff, and ensuring high-quality construction documentation. You will collaborate with project managers and clients to meet budgets, schedules, and design requirements while mentoring junior personnel.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform engineering calculations and layout fire protection systems in accordance with codes and standards.
• Resolve project-related problems and conflicts using practical experience.
• Make independent decisions for assigned engineering tasks.
• Occasionally supervise subordinate personnel or assist other engineers and designers.
• Apply knowledge of discipline-specific and building codes.
• Meet with Project Engineers and Managers to discuss scope, schedule, budget, phasing, and site issues.
• Work with Project Managers and Engineers to prepare design budgets and schedules.
• Estimate discipline man-hours required for design requirements.
• Provide leadership by assigning job functions to designers and supervising their efforts.
• Implement system types and provide complete construction documents.
• Review preliminary and final designs with other disciplines for coordination and function.
• Perform final reviews of engineering drawings.
• Maintain direct client contact.
• Perform quality assurance on projects in coordination with technical managers.
• Mentor and motivate engineering designers.
• Research and write reports or opinions.
• Perform equipment selection.
• Manage personnel resources including motivating and developing team members.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Protection or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 6 years of work experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in the United States.
• Ability to sign and seal documents.
• Proficiency in REVIT.
• Proficiency in engineering modeling tools.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Excellent judgment and decision-making skills.
• Critical thinking and active listening skills.
