Performs administrative and professional work involving the daily operation of the Orlando Fire Planning Division. Is responsible for managing, reviewing, and implementing both current and long-range strategic goals and objectives. Provides technical expertise in planning and development related to land use, site, and capital improvement plans for new and existing fire station locations. Other duties include supervising staff, managing Division’s budget, and providing supervision over other divisional personnel relating to development review and project management. Employee represents the City and Department in both internal and external meetings. Work is performed under the direction of the Deputy Fire Chief and performance is reviewed through conferences, reports, and results obtained.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Planning, Public Administration, or related field and four (4) years experience in urban planning, municipal comprehensive planning, or development review, two (2) years of which must have been in a responsible supervisory or project management capacity; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess valid Florida Driver's License, and valid American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) designation or equivalent licensing directly related to an applicable area of specialization.

If this posting indicates a degree is required, the following experience will apply in lieu of any degree as follows:

  • Two (2) years of direct experience for an associate degree;
  • Four (4) years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
  • Six (6) years of direct experience for a master's degree; or
  • Nine (9) years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
