Amteck Life Safety specializes in the design, installation, testing, certification, and support of fire alarmsystems. This is a growing division of Amteck that offers competitive pay, benefitsand room for advancement within the company. We are currently seekinga Fire Alarm Designer to join our team.
Requirements include but are not limited to
NICET Level 3 or 4 in fire alarm systems
5+ years of experience in layout, design and submittal of large commercial fire alarm projects
Working knowledge of addressable systems, networks and voice fire alarm applications
Experience in calculating voltage drop and battery loads as well as riser layouts
Experience in fire alarm, life safety and electrical codes
Fire alarm system programming knowledge and EST experience is a plus but is not required
Basic understanding of cost, overhead, margins and pricing for fire alarm proposals
Responsibilities include but are not limited to
Working with design/build Electrical Engineers on full design FA systems and layouts
Working with regional Project Managers on existing customer systems and designs for new systems
Working with regional electrical service department on plan/spec FA projects
Dealing , on a professional level, with AHJ's to include owners, engineers of record, insurance underwriters and local, state and federal authorities having jurisdiction
Ability to manage the design of a project and work with Estimators and/or Project Managers
Perform complete system layout in accordance with local/national codes and develop sequence of operations for complete fire alarm systems
Write scope of work statement for proposals
Estimating jobs and assisting with proposal writing as required
Create accurate bill of material for a complete fire alarm system
Training and technical assistance for field techs and installers as needed
Relationship maintenance and building with our manufacture representatives and working to learn and utilize the latest technologies available

Our full-time Safety staff is constantly conducting training on the latest safety issues in the industry to our employees as well as applicable certifications such as 30 hours OSHA, 10 hours OSHA, Bloodborne Pathogen, CPR and First Aid.
