Grow With Us.

About the Cloud Engineering team

The Cloud Engineering team provides the platforms, tooling, and operational foundations that enable Yoco’s engineering teams to build, deploy, and operate reliable services at scale. We manage and evolve our cloud environments across AWS, Azure, and GCP, ensuring our infrastructure remains secure, performant, resilient, and cost-effective.

As Yoco continues to scale, cloud and SaaS spend have become increasingly important strategic levers. The Cloud Engineering team plays a key role in ensuring that technology investments deliver measurable business value while enabling engineering teams to move quickly and confidently.

About the role

As a FinOps Analyst, you will be responsible for ensuring Yoco derives maximum value from every rand spent across our cloud and SaaS ecosystem.

Reporting to the Cloud Operations team within Cloud Engineering, you will serve as the bridge between Engineering, Finance, and Procurement, bringing visibility, accountability, and optimisation to technology spend across AWS, Azure, GCP, and our core SaaS platforms.

You will own and drive the FinOps lifecycle across Cloud Engineering spend and associated technology platforms by improving cost transparency, identifying optimisation opportunities, governing SaaS utilisation, and partnering with engineering teams to embed cost-conscious decision-making into day-to-day operations.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong cloud infrastructure background who has developed a passion for cloud economics, cost optimisation, and using data to drive operational and commercial outcomes. Success in this role requires a combination of analytical rigour, technical credibility, commercial awareness, and the ability to influence stakeholders without formal authority.

What you will be doing

  • Develop and maintain cost visibility dashboards that provide accurate allocation of cloud and SaaS spend across departments, products, and projects.

  • Monitor, analyse, and optimise spend across AWS, Azure, and GCP through effective management of Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, Committed Use Discounts, and other optimisation mechanisms.

  • Identify, quantify, and drive cost-saving opportunities by partnering with engineering teams on initiatives such as rightsizing, storage optimisation, and workload efficiency improvements.

  • Govern SaaS utilisation across key platforms, ensuring licensing remains aligned to business needs and eliminating unnecessary spend.

  • Build strong relationships with Engineering, Finance, and Procurement stakeholders to establish FinOps best practices and operational processes.

  • Lead commercial discussions with technology vendors to negotiate favourable pricing, contract terms, and enterprise agreements.

  • Investigate anomalies, proactively detect cost spikes, and provide meaningful recommendations to mitigate financial risk.

  • Deliver regular reporting and insights to leadership, enabling informed decision-making around technology investment and cloud consumption.

About you

  • You have 3–8 years of experience in FinOps, Cloud Operations, Cloud Engineering, DevOps, Platform Engineering, or a closely related field.

  • You have hands-on experience managing and optimising cloud spend within AWS and ideally across Azure and GCP.

  • You can demonstrate measurable cost optimisation outcomes and clearly articulate the actions taken to achieve them.

  • You have a strong understanding of cloud pricing models, discount structures, and optimisation techniques across major cloud providers.

  • You are comfortable interrogating large datasets and can independently build analyses using SQL, spreadsheets, billing exports, or other analytical tools.

  • You understand cloud infrastructure concepts and can engage credibly with engineers on topics such as compute, storage, networking, and workload optimisation.

  • You have experience managing SaaS licensing, utilisation, renewals, and vendor relationships.

  • You are comfortable negotiating commercial agreements and working with procurement stakeholders.

  • You are highly collaborative and know how to influence priorities across multiple teams without relying on formal authority.

  • You enjoy solving complex problems, challenging assumptions, and turning data into actionable business outcomes.

Bonus points

  • FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP) or FinOps Certified Professional certification.

  • Experience operating within FinTech, SaaS, cloud-native, or high-growth technology environments.

  • Experience managing multi-million-rand cloud budgets.

  • Experience consolidating SaaS tooling into enterprise-wide commercial agreements.

The people we’re looking for

We’re looking for people who want to grow and have a thirst for learning. And as Yoco grows, we hope they stay with us for the long-term.

Building solutions for a more equal society is a daunting task - and it’s not for everyone. We never stop pushing, we break things to rebuild, and we challenge ourselves and our teammates. We start over, we constantly evolve - and we do it fast. We know that it’s just the right kind of meaningful madness for our kind of visionary human.

So, who are you? You’re someone who resonates with our mission and our values, and you’re relentlessly effective in your execution.

You’re a curious problem-solver with a passion for doing good. You’re bright, grounded, experimental and bold. You play open cards and get stuck in. You’re not afraid of change. You close the loop.

At Yoco, we laugh, embrace each other’s quirks, and support one another’s growth, all while staying authentic.

If this sounds like your kind of challenge, apply below and come grow with us.

We encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds to apply and ask that you please send your application in English and help us reduce unconscious bias by leaving out your picture, age, address, and other unnecessary information in your CV.
