
Finishing Operator
Position Purpose / Mission
The Finishing Operator rotates through several tasks during a normal workday and is responsible for completing the final stages of the rolling process. This includes operating and monitoring finishing equipment for both coil and cut-to-length steel. Full on-the-job training is provided for the Stelmor cooling conveyor, bar line conveyor, coil trimming, straight bar shear saw, stacking table, and all required packaging processes.
Position Specifics
12-hour shift schedule 6:00pm-6:00am
5-2-2-5 rotation.
Pay is $24.25 per hour plus a $2.25 night shift premium.
Physical Requirements
Constant standing and lifting up to 75 lbs.
Frequent sitting, walking, and lifting up to 10 lbs.
Occasional work below waist level, pushing/pulling, carrying, extended reaching beyond 15 inches, fine motor tasks, and forceful motion.
Minimal climbing, balancing, overhead reaching, foot use, and occasional lifting over 100 lbs.
Must meet all physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation, as detailed in the Job Analysis Database.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED, or willingness to enroll in our free GEDWorks program.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Basic math and communication skills.
Strong collaboration, instruction-following, and problem-solving capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Forklift and/or overhead crane experience.
Previous manufacturing experience.
Safety awareness or related training.
Major Accountabilities
Operate the Stelmor and bar line conveyors.
Trim coil front and back end rings to quality specifications.
Operate coil compactor and coil handling equipment.
Operate the shear saw and stacking table.
Operate a forklift.
Maintain trimming equipment and manage scrap ring disposal.
Follow all packaging requirements.
Perform additional plant duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Support internal customer needs by working collaboratively with team members.
Comply with all safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
