Divisional Overview:

The Tax department handles the computation and preparation of regular tax filings, transfer pricing calculation & analyses, and related documentation / reporting. This department is organized into three specialized units: the Direct Tax team, the Indirect Tax team, and the Transfer Pricing team.

Business Overview:

The Indirect Tax team manages Nomura's regional VAT compliance through extensive collaboration with internal stakeholders and external advisors across multiple jurisdictions. The role requires active involvement in regulatory audits and assessments, serving as primary liaison with tax authorities, including preparation, submission, and ongoing maintenance of special method applications. A critical responsibility is conducting comprehensive risk assessments of indirect tax return computations, identifying potential exposures, implementing mitigation strategies, and ensuring all indirect tax positions are technically defensible.
