Financial Specialist Intern

In this role, you will report to the Enabling Unit Lead and become actively involved in projects and initiatives that require applying financial knowledge to a wide range of situations with varying degrees of complexity. You will support proper costing of products and inventories, as well as timely monthly financial closing and reporting of manufacturing variances for a chemical manufacturing site.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Financial Specialist Intern, are to support the Site Controllers to:

• Develop the annual operating budget for the site;
• Develop annual product cost rollups for product cost standards, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and error resolution;
• Analyze cost center spending and value flow (assessments) for consistency with the operational plan;
• Develop periodic cost estimates;
• Be accountable for account reconciliations and communicate significant impacts;
• Collaborate with site leadership and operations teams to ensure drivers of financial impacts are understood;
• Collaborate with project managers to ensure compliance with Capital versus Expense guidelines;
• Conduct analysis and explain changes in individual product standards;
• Develop monthly and quarterly forecasts for Crop Protection sites in partnership with functional leaders;
• Analyze and communicate actual performance against budget and forecast;
• Develop analysis and provide written feedback to the Site Controller for variances against budget and forecast.

Key Working Relationships:

This position will support the Site Controllers in providing product cost and financial support to the manufacturing site.

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Education:

Currently pursuing a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Ag Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

Qualifications & Competencies:

• Demonstrated alignment with Bayer's Values (Leadership, Integrity, Flexibility, and Efficiency);
• Excellent ability to interact and communicate effectively at all levels and with individuals from various parts of the organization;
• Motivated, self-starting individual with a proven ability to prioritize multiple projects and work effectively in a team environment;
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel;
• Ability to commute daily to and from the work location in Muscatine, IA;
• Willingness to work in a chemical manufacturing environment.

Employees can expect to be paid an hourly rate of approximately between $20.75 to $58.50. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits may include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. (if relevant). This salary (or salary range) is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
