Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Review financial and insurance information to determine admission eligibility.
  • Verify primary and secondary insurance coverage, including Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, and commercial insurance.
  • Complete financial clearance documentation accurately and efficiently.
  • Obtain insurance authorizations and eligibility information when required.
  • Educate residents and families regarding insurance benefits, co-pays, deductibles, NAMI responsibilities, and payment expectations.
  • Assist residents and families with Medicaid applications and financial documentation.
  • Maintain accurate financial information within the electronic medical record and other required systems.
  • Coordinate with Admissions, Business Office, Managed Care, and interdisciplinary departments to ensure timely financial clearance.
  • Review daily census reports and assist with occupancy reporting.
  • Complete Managed Care documentation and required financial reports.
  • Scan and maintain financial documents in the electronic medical record.
  • Communicate significant financial or insurance concerns to leadership promptly.
  • Assist with Medicare and Managed Care benefit verification as needed.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to residents, families, referral sources, and internal departments.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Compliance
  • Maintain compliance with:
    • HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules
    • Facility policies and procedures
  • Protect confidential resident financial information

Skills & Qualifications

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and electronic medical record systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

Education & Experience

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in healthcare, admissions, financial counseling, insurance verification, Medicaid, or patient financial services preferred.
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, and commercial insurance plans preferred.
  • Nursing home or long-term care experience is highly preferred.
