Job Description

As a Financial Risk Specialist – IRRBB Analytics & Insights, you will strengthen the second line analytics capability within the Banking Book Risk function.

You will focus on deep analytical assessment of IRRBB risk drivers across ING’s balance sheet, supporting risk oversight, challenging first line proposals, and enabling informed decision-making at senior management level.

The role combines quantitative analysis, Python tooling development, and risk insight generation, with exposure to ALCO and senior risk committee submissions.

Roles and responsibilities

Tooling and data analytics

  • Support the development and improvement of Python-based analytical tools for IRRBB monitoring, scenario analysis, and deep dives.

  • Help automate recurring analysis and reporting workflows.

  • Work with data from different sources and contribute to making analysis more efficient, transparent, and repeatable.

  • Translate business and risk questions into structured analysis with guidance from senior colleagues.

IRRBB analytics and insights

  • Support analysis of IRRBB risk drivers, including EVE, NII, behavioural assumptions, hedging impacts, and scenario outcomes.

  • Help explain movements in the balance sheet risk profile across products, portfolios, and entities.

  • Contribute to clear and practical insights that support risk monitoring and decision-making.

  • Learn how financial risk metrics are used in the context of banking book risk management.

Balance sheet and hedging analysis

  • Assist in analysing how hedging strategies and balance sheet developments affect IRRBB metrics and the risk profile.

  • Support comparison of alternative approaches, assumptions, or scenarios.

  • Help strengthen consistency between modelling, risk measurement, and business decisions.

  • Master’s degree in finance, Econometrics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field

  • Strong Python programming skills, with ability to build analytical tools and handle large datasets

  • 0–2 years of relevant experience, or internship/project experience in financial risk, banking, treasury, modelling, analytics, or data analysis.

  • Interest in financial risk management, balance sheet risk, IRRBB, ALM, or banking regulation.

  • Good analytical skills and curiosity to understand the story behind the numbers.

  • Comfortable working with data, numbers, and analytical problems.

  • Ability to structure analysis and explain findings in a clear and simple way.

  • Proactive attitude, willingness to learn, and openness to feedback.

  • Comfortable working in an international environment with different stakeholders.

  • Curiosity to understand both the technical analysis and the business context.

  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to improve the quality of analysis.

  • Ability to ask good questions and seek guidance when needed.

  • A practical mindset: focusing not only on calculations, but also on what the results mean.
