ING is looking for a Financial Risk Specialist V to strengthen the Risk Analytics & Insight team within Integrated Risk / ICAAP Analytics. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence ING's group-wide risk management framework, contribute to major regulatory stress testing exercises, and shape the future of risk analytics at one of Europe's leading international banks.

The team

ICAAP Analytics is a staff department within Integrated Risk that executes and coordinates various integrated risk topics, including:

• ICAAP: Being the second line of defense with respect to ICAAP and thereby working closely together with Group Treasury/Capital Management.
• Stress Testing: Covering internal and external (EBA) ICAAP/Capital Stress Testing as well as Climate Risk Stress Testing.
• Economic Capital: Overseeing the implementation of the new Economic Capital Framework and supporting Economic Capital usage in both risk management and steering.
• Risk Appetite: Coordination of the group-wide Risk Appetite Framework, including solvency/capital risk appetite, allocation to risk types, and preparation of the annual risk appetite for the Management Board Banking and Supervisory Board.
• Risk Identification & Risk Assessment: Coordination of the group-wide Risk Identification and Risk Assessment process, including maintenance of ING Group’s risk taxonomy and the annual materiality assessment.
• New Regulations: Assessing the impact of new regulations such as CRR3/Basel IV.
• Disclosures: Coordination of internal risk reporting towards the Management Board and Supervisory Board and external disclosures in the Annual Report and towards investors and rating agencies.

ICAAP Analytics is an international team consisting of 25 highly qualified professionals based in Amsterdam. We work in an open and informal atmosphere, with activities organised around three teams. In this role, you will contribute to the Risk Analytics & Insight team.

The Risk Analytics & Insight team is responsible for the development, implementation, and execution of ING’s credit and climate risk stress testing capabilities, supporting key ICAAP and regulatory processes. The team develops and maintains the Credit Risk Stress Testing framework and produces forward-looking forecasts of risk costs and credit migration under baseline and stress scenarios. The team also leads Climate Risk Stress Testing and related analytical assessments, working closely with ESG Risk and other stakeholders to evaluate the impact of climate-related risks on ING’s portfolio and support the ESG Risk Materiality Assessment. Together, these activities enable data-driven risk management and strategic decision-making across the organisation.

Roles and responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Act as a senior subject matter expert for ING’s group-wide credit and climate risk stress testing methodologies, models, and forecasting capabilities.
• Drive the development, implementation, and execution of ING’s Credit Risk Stress Testing framework.
• Oversee the calibration and technical implementation of stress testing tooling.
• Contribute to the evolution of ING’s stress testing and forecasting capabilities through methodological improvements, new analytical techniques, and responses to emerging regulatory requirements.
• Lead regulatory and internal stress testing exercises, including the EBA EU-wide stress test, ICAAP stress testing, and ad hoc risk analyses.
• Produce ING’s top-down forecasts of credit migration and risk costs under baseline and stress scenarios.
• Play a leading role in the development and execution of ING’s Climate Risk Stress Testing framework.
• Work closely with ESG Risk and other stakeholders to assess climate-related risks and support the ESG Risk Materiality Assessment.
• Translate complex quantitative and regulatory topics into clear, decision-oriented insights for senior stakeholders.
• Represent the credit and climate risk stress testing function towards senior management and supervisory authorities.

• Academic level education, preferably in Econometrics, Quantitative Finance, Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline.
• Extensive senior-level experience in credit risk quantification, stress testing, forecasting, ICAAP, regulatory capital, or a comparable quantitative risk management function.
• Experience with quantitative modelling, data analytics, programming, and model implementation tools.
• Advanced analytical skills, particularly in risk analysis, model development and monitoring, and regulatory and management reporting.
• Strong capability to translate complex technical and regulatory topics into clear, decision-driven executive narratives.
• High level of ownership, professional judgement, and decision-making.
• Result-driven and able to push things forward in a persistent and constructive manner.
• Ability to operate effectively in complex, cross-functional, and international environments.
• Excellent communication skills, strong organisational sensitivity, and a collaborative mindset.
• Fluent in English, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex content in an easy and transparent way.
