ROLE SUMMARY

The Global Financial Reporting function is investing in AI and intelligent automation to modernize how financial data is produced, reviewed, and reported. We are looking for a hands-on Prompt Engineer to design, build and optimize the prompts, workflows and AI-driven solutions that power this transformation.

This is a practical, delivery-focused role for someone who genuinely understands how Large Language Models (LLMs) work and can turn business problems into reliable, production-ready AI solutions. The successful candidate will combine deep prompt-engineering expertise with strong Excel/VBA Macro skills, translating complex reporting and reconciliation tasks into automated, auditable outputs. Experience within Banking and Financial Services (BFS) is a strong advantage, given the regulatory and data-sensitivity of our environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Prompt Engineering & AI Solution Design

• Design, test and iterate high-quality prompts for LLMs to support financial reporting, analysis, summarization and data extraction use cases.
• Apply advanced prompting techniques (few-shot, chain-of-thought, structured output, retrieval-augmented generation) to improve accuracy, consistency and reliability.
• Build reusable prompt libraries, templates and guardrails that can be adopted across the Financial Reporting function.
• Evaluate model output systematically, reduce hallucinations, and tune solutions for factual, audit-ready results.

1. Automation & Macro Development

• Develop and maintain Excel Macros (VBA) to automate recurring reporting, reconciliation and data-manipulation tasks.
• Integrate AI capabilities with spreadsheet-based and existing finance tooling to create end-to-end automated workflows.
• Reduce manual effort and turnaround time by standardizing and automating repetitive reporting processes.

1. Delivery, Testing & Governance

• Own solutions from concept to production, including documentation, version control, testing and handover.
• Ensure all AI and automation outputs are accurate, explainable, and compliant with data protection and internal control requirements.
• Maintain clear audit trails and adhere to security, privacy and governance standards appropriate to a regulated BFS environment.

1. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

• Work closely with Financial Reporting, Data and Technology teams to identify and prioritise high-value AI use cases.
• Translate business requirements into clear technical specifications and practical solutions.
• Stay current with developments in AI, prompt engineering and automation, and proactively recommend improvements.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Essential

• Proven, hands-on experience as a Prompt Engineer (or equivalent) working directly with LLMs such as GPT, Claude or similar.
• Deep, practical understanding of how AI/LLMs work, including prompt design, tuning, and evaluation of outputs.
• Strong Excel Macro / VBA skills, with a demonstrable track record of building automation for data-heavy processes.
• Ability to work independently, deliver production-ready solutions, and clearly document and explain your work.
• Strong analytical mindset with high attention to accuracy and detail.

Desirable

• Experience within the Banking and Financial Services (BFS) industry, ideally in a reporting, finance or data function.
• Exposure to Python or other scripting for AI integration and automation.
• Familiarity with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), APIs, and AI platforms/tooling.
• Understanding of financial reporting concepts, data controls, and regulatory/audit requirements.

LOCATION

This is a fully on-site role based in Pune West, Maharashtra, India. Candidates must be able to work on-site five days a week. This position is not available on a remote or hybrid basis.
