This is fiscal management work of a professional accounting nature involving responsibility for financial reports and data for all Executive Government agencies of the U.S. Virgin islands Government. Financial Reporting Analysts prepare documentation that reflects the government financial standing. The information they compile is issued to internal and external sources and is used to create budgets and conduct audits. They use Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to create financial statements, balance sheets while ensuring accurate financial reporting throughout an organization by working closely with various departments and management.
Work is performed under the general directions of a higher level supervisor and is reviewed through discussions.
DUTIES (NOT ALL INCLUSIVE)
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or any closely related field which include at least (12) credits in Accounting and/or Finance, plus two (2) years experience dealing with finance, accounting, or federal grants or budgetary matters.
FACTOR 1- KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
FACTOR 2- SUPERVISORY CONTROL
Work is assigned to employee who works independently and is responsible for results.
Work is reviewed by supervisor and corrections made if needed by employee. Completed and reviewed work is submitted for approval by the supervisor to the Director.
FACTOR 3- GUIDELINES
The guidelines used are the Government Accounting Manuel, Legislative Acts, Departmental Policies and Procedures, GASB updates, ERP, Legal Opinions and received performance advice from the Auditors.
FACTOR 4- COMPLEXITY
The employee performs work on difficult and complex fiscal transactions, using standard methods and procedures to achieve desired results.
FACTOR 5- SCOPE AND EFFECT
The purpose of the position is to ensure that all data entry transaction are posted, determine the accuracy of government funds and control fund expenditures.
FACTOR 6- PERSONAL CONTACTS
Personal contacts are made with co-workers, employees from other Executive Government Agencies and individuals outside of government.
FACTOR 7- PURPOSE OF CONTACTS
The purpose of the contacts is to obtain and exchange information relative to the balances of various funds and appropriations for specific organizational structures.
FACTOR 8- PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Light physical effort and moderate stamina.
FACTOR 9- WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee works in an air-conditioned office with some disagreeable conditions.
