Job Description

Finance Reconciliation Officer

Location: Manchester / Hybrid working pattern

We're looking for a detail-oriented Finance Reconciliation Officer to play a key role in managing and safeguarding financial transactions across our DVLA Enforcement Services Contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys working with data, solving problems, and ensuring financial integrity within a highly regulated environment.

You'll be responsible for reconciling high-volume financial transactions, investigating discrepancies, and ensuring all funds are accurately accounted for. Working closely with finance teams, operational stakeholders, banking partners, and payment providers, you'll help maintain robust financial controls and support the timely reporting and settlement of funds.

What You'll Be Doing

• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations across banking platforms, payment systems, operational databases, and financial ledgers.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies, unmatched transactions, and reconciliation exceptions.
• Analyse large volumes of financial data to identify trends, anomalies, and potential risks.
• Produce reconciliation reports, management information, and exception reporting.
• Support internal and external audit requirements by maintaining accurate and auditable records.
• Liaise with banks, payment providers, finance teams, and operational stakeholders to resolve issues efficiently.
• Contribute to process improvements that enhance controls, accuracy, and operational efficiency.
• Support compliance, fraud prevention, and financial governance activities.

Qualifications

About You

We're looking for someone with:

• Experience in financial reconciliation, banking, finance operations, shared services, or payment processing environments.
• Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Experience investigating and resolving financial discrepancies.
• Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets.
• Excellent organisational and stakeholder management abilities.
• Understanding of financial controls, compliance, and audit requirements.
• Ability to work independently while managing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• AAT, ACCA, or CIMA studies in progress (desirable).

Desirable Experience

• Payment gateways, settlement platforms, or banking interfaces.
• ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, or Sage.
• Public sector or government contract environments.
• Cash management and treasury processes.
• Working within highly regulated industries.
