The role

This role leads a suite of financially focused projects that directly support the Crown Land Manager (CLM) network—one of the most diverse and community‑embedded stewardship groups in NSW. Your work will help modernise financial practices, strengthen governance, and ensure Crown land is managed sustainably for the people of NSW.

You will take ownership of several high‑profile, strategically important initiatives. These projects have significant visibility across Crown Lands, NSW Treasury, DPHI, and the Audit Office, making this a role with real impact and influence. The diversity of the Crown Land Manager (CLM) network means the successful candidate must understand the realities of small business operations and volunteer‑run organisations, including their financial constraints, governance challenges, and capacity limitations.

About You

You will thrive in this role if you bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a finance related field and/or relevant experience in project management and practical experience applying financial systems in small business or volunteer‑run environments.
  • A strong understanding of how accounting software can improve governance, transparency, and compliance for small organisations.
  • Empathy for the operational realities of volunteer boards and community‑based groups.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate financial concepts for non‑financial audiences.
  • A proactive, outcome‑focused mindset and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Experience leading small teams and fostering a collaborative, supportive environment.

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in a finance related field and/or relevant experience in project management.
  • Current Driver’s licence with the ability and willingness to travel.
