Job Description

What's the role?

Reporting to the Head of FP&A, this highly visible role plays a critical part in leading the organisation’s planning and reporting cycle for NCA. Acting as the key link between business partnering teams and executive leadership, you will consolidate insights across the business and translate financial results into clear, compelling narratives that drive commercial decision-making. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality internal and external reporting to senior stakeholders across News Corp Australia and Global Head Office (NY), providing strategic insights that create value and support enterprise-wide performance. Collaboration will be central to your success, as you work closely with commercial finance teams to understand all areas of the business and distil complex information into meaningful, actionable outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Craft the ‘narrative’ of NCA’s results by analysing performance trends and drivers, explaining variances against budget and forecast, and influencing how these are communicated to the Executive Leadership Team and Global Head Office in NY.

  • Advise the ELT and Finance & Strategy Committee on macro-level decisions, including brand profitability assessments and setting cost/stretch targets.

  • Synthesise financial and commercial insights across all business units to forecast NCA-wide impacts, including understanding the business from NY’s point of view.

  • Deliver ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Act as the subject matter expert and primary liaison with the Systems & Data team on system-related projects and maintaining the integrity of key FP&A systems.

  • Drive continuous process improvement, automation, and reporting standardisation to build a best-practice finance function.

Who are you?

  • Relevant experience in a similar FP&A or commercial finance role, with post-graduate qualifications (e.g., CA/CPA/CFA).

  • Effective communicator with strong attention to detail.

  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to translate financial results into clear business narratives and actionable insights.

  • Able to convey the bigger picture while understanding the supporting detail.

  • Collaborative, building strong partnerships across teams to achieve shared objectives.

  • A self-starter who drives initiatives and takes accountability for outcomes.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and project management skills.

  • Proficient in Google Sheets and Google Slides; experience with TM1 (IBM Planning Analytics Workspace) or similar systems is advantageous.
