Job Description

Octane is unlocking the power of financial products for merchants and consumers. Our cutting-edge technology and innovative financial products empower businesses with more control and flexibility, enabling them to deliver seamless digital experiences, drive customer loyalty, and build long-term value.

Octane supports merchants throughout the sales cycle: connecting dealerships with high-intent buyers, driving transparent, fast, and easy closings with award-winning technology, and providing on-going customer care with superior loan servicing.

Founded in 2014, Octane supports over 60 OEM partner brands and over 4,000 dealer partners, and has a team of over 600. Visit www.octane.co

We're seeking a Financial Analyst to be a core member of Octane's Finance organization, supporting the FP&A team across month-end close, budget-to-actual reporting, the corporate operating model, and investor reporting. This role sits at the center of how Octane measures performance, partnering with department leaders across the company and with Accounting, Capital Markets, and Credit to turn financial data into decisions. It is a high-visibility seat with direct exposure to senior leadership and a clear path into more senior FP&A and strategic finance roles.

This is a hybrid position in our NYC office.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Accounting through the monthly close — preparing accruals, reviewing results against budget, and writing the variance commentary that explains what moved and why.
  • Own department-level budget-to-actual reporting and serve as the day-to-day finance partner to an assigned set of cost centers.
  • Maintain and improve the corporate operating model, including three-statement forecasting and the originations, revenue, and unit economics drivers behind it.
  • Support the annual budget and rolling forecast processes, from driver assumptions through consolidated output and sensitivity analysis.
  • Prepare recurring reporting for equity investors, lenders, and the Board, coordinating with Capital Markets on loan sale and securitization-related reporting.
  • Deliver ad hoc analysis for senior leadership on short timelines, framing the decision rather than simply presenting the data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or another quantitative field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in corporate FP&A, investment banking, transaction advisory, private credit, or a comparable analytical finance role.
  • Demonstrated three-statement modeling and long-range forecasting experience.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency, including comfort working with large data sets.
  • Working comfort querying data directly — SQL or equivalent — rather than waiting on a data request.
  • Strong critical thinking and attention to detail, with the judgment to recognize when a number looks wrong.
  • Clear written and verbal communication; able to present analysis to non-finance stakeholders and to senior leadership.
  • Able to manage competing priorities across multiple teams and deliver consistently against deadlines.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote-first environment as well as collaboratively across functions.
  • Experience with BI and visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Experience with a planning platform such as Workday Adaptive Planning, Anaplan, etc.

Compensation

In addition to salary, Total Rewards include a stock option package, and benefits as outlined below. The role described above offers a base salary of $75,000 to $85,000. Your offer will be based on location, the alignment of your qualifications with the requirements of the job and internal equity.

Benefits:

  • Robust Health Care Plans (Medical, Dental & Vision)
  • Generous Parental Leave
  • Flexible Time-Off (FTO)
  • Retirement Plan (401k) with company match!
  • Educational Assistance/Tuition Reimbursement up to $3K/year
  • Life Insurance (Basic, Voluntary & AD&D)
  • Short Term / Long Term Disability
  • Robust Ancillary benefits including accident insurance, hospital insurance, etc
  • Wellhub (Gympass) Wellness Benefit
  • Recreational Safety Benefit
