Summary

The Nevada Gaming Control Board is seeking dedicated, ethical, and highly motivated professionals to join our team as a Financial Officer, Administration Division in Carson City. Under general direction, this position reports to the Accounting Supervisor and the Administration Division Chief or Deputy Chief. The position is responsible for supporting Accounting Section operations, overseeing investigative accounts and fees, managing Task Force overtime agreements, maintaining accounting and internal reporting systems, and serving as the agency’s Contract Manager. Performs related duties as assigned.

Examples of duties

A minimum of four years of educational or relevant experience in public administration, accounting, finance, economics, or a closely related field. A minimum of four years of progressively responsible professional experience in business, accounting, or fiscal management is required.

Qualifications

Position provides comprehensive fiscal, accounting, and administrative oversight to support the agency’s financial integrity and operational effectiveness. Responsibilities include developing, maintaining, and monitoring budgetary systems to track revenues, funding sources, expenditures, and spending authority; maintaining internal financial controls; and reviewing invoices, vouchers, billing claims, contracts, leases, and other financial documents for accuracy and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. The position performs financial and payroll reconciliations, verifies accounting transactions, resolves discrepancies, and ensures accurate financial records and documentation. Additional duties include analyzing fiscal and operational trends, preparing financial and budget status reports, and advising management regarding financial, operational, and compliance matters. The position also supports forfeiture-fund expenditures, investigative financial activities, clubvenue operations, and Task Force overtime agreements and billing. Supervisory responsibilities include training, coaching, and evaluating assigned personnel; assigning and reviewing work; establishing priorities; ensuring timely and accurate completion of assignments; and promoting teamwork, effective communication, professional conduct, customer service, and adherence to agency expectations and established internal controls throughout the AccountingSection.

Supplemental information

Comprehensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, governmental accounting practices, financial reporting standards, budget administration, internal controls, & fiscal compliance requirements. Understanding of payroll and accounts payable/receivable functions, auditing, and federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies. Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of financial operations. Demonstrates exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and make sound, well-reasoned decisions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficiency with accounting software and financial management systems, advanced spreadsheet capabilities, prioritize multiple assignments while. This position requires the ability to identify discrepancies, implement corrective actions, and develop solutions that maintain strict confidentiality.
