Days (United States of America)Coordinates Cancer Center patients and assist with indigent drug programs, copay assistance programs, and drug replacement programs.
The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:
Educates patients on how their insurance was processed for their services
Ability to discuss co-pays, deductibles, and denials with patient
Meet with each patient to go over assistance programs that are available for their treatment
Coordinate with Oncology Social Work to ensure that patients who do not have insurance may qualify for Medicaid or other charitable services
Coordinate with Pharmacy and Drug Manufacturers regarding Indigent Drug Programs for Cancer Center patients needing assistance
Work with physicians to enhance their knowledge of what programs are available for the patient
Track patient medications and copay assistance provided from Indigent Drug Programs and adjust charges from patient accounts accordingly
Coordinate with Foundations for Co-Pay assistance for patients who may qualify
Work with Patient Financial Services to assist patients with payment plans
Provide monthly report to Financial Navigator Manager of all assistance for each month.

The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Associates degree in healthcare management or other related field preferred or 5 years of work experience in place of degree accepted
3 years’ experience in a hospital business office, financial planning department or physician office
E xcellent communication skills and confidence when speaking with Cancer Center patients
Ability to perform independently diverse tasks with firm deadlines without sacrificing accuracy and quality
Experienced in Windows, Excel, and Word
Computer literate
Ability to grasp new concepts quickly
Ability to see and read reports and computer display terminals
Manual dexterity to keypunch data via a keyboard
Mobility to meet with management at their service area throughout the facility
May require extended periods of sedentary work and extended working hours to meet stated objectives
