About the teamAbout the role:
The Cancer Information and Support Services Division (CISS) aims to empower and support people affected by cancer, so that no-one need face cancer alone.
The Legal, Financial and Practical Support Services team provides support to people affected by cancer, ensuring financial, legal and other practical needs are met throughout their cancer trajectory. The services offered include Financial Navigation, Financial Counselling and the provision of temporary financial relief, along with pro bono legal, workplace and financial planning advice, transport to treatment and accommodation support. This is a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary team made up of Financial Counsellors, Pro Bono Legal Coordinators, Transport and Accommodation Coordinators and Administrators who provide holistic and coordinated support to people affected by cancer.
The key purpose of the Financial Navigator is to provide holistic, telephone-based financial information, timely guidance, and service navigation support to people affected by cancer. The role focuses on reducing financial distress and hardship through early intervention, empowering informed decision-making, and facilitating access to appropriate specialist services, through needs assessment and triage to Financial Counselling, Legal Services, Financial Planning, and other practical and emotional support services.
This role is suited to Financial Capability Workers and Diploma of Financial Counselling recent graduates or current students.
Please note this is a part-time 0.6FTE, fixed term 12-month contract, based in our Woolloomooloo head office. We are looking for a candidate available to workMonday – Wednesday to complement current team rostering, however, may consider one alternate day.
