In this role, you'll:

Working within our Strategic Investments and Delivery Team at Trainlink, the primary purpose of our Financial Modelling and Insights Lead position is to take responsibility to provide specialist financial impacts, insights and decision support to NSW Trainlink. The role acts as a subject matter expert in financial analysis, modelling, and business partnering, enabling leaders to understand cost drivers, evaluate funding options, and optimise the financial sustainability of programs and services.

The role translates complex financial data into actionable insights, ensures alignment with central agency requirements, and contributes to continuous improvement in financial management practices across the organisation.

About you

You will partner with divisional leaders and stakeholders to provide expert financial insights, advice, and options analysis that inform operational and strategic decision-making.

Other responsibilities will include:

• Preparing financial inputs, impact analysis, and scenario testing to substantiate budget proposals and funding cases.
• Lead financial analysis and modelling to assess the impact of initiatives, policy decisions, and investment options, ensuring alignment with budgetary and funding framework
• Prepare high-quality commentary, insights, and recommendations on financial performance, highlighting risks, opportunities, and cost drivers for executive audiences.
• Contribute to planning processes by providing financial expertise and supporting the alignment of business strategies with funding envelopes and government priorities.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial management practices, tools, and insights capability, and contribute to embedding these improvements across the division.
• Collaborate with the stakeholders to ensure consolidated results and reporting are informed by deep financial analysis and accurate interpretation of divisional performance.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, central agency counterparts, and external partners to ensure financial information and insights are robust, credible, and trusted.

This is a temporary role ending on 30th June 2027, and you will be based in our Pitt Street office in Sydney.
