Someone who is compassionate, caring, non-judgmental and with a supportive attitude. You are solution-focused and capable of finding the strengths of the people you work with and implementing
the best strategies to advance them towards their financial goals. You are also a confident decision-maker in crisis situations.

He kōrero mō te tūranga | The Role

This opportunity will allow you to use your life skills and professional expertise to support our clients in identifying their financial goals and developing a plan to achieve sustainable financial well-being. You will advocate on their behalf with creditors, housing providers and landlords, and government agencies. Provide one-on-one budgeting advice and facilitate group workshops and sessions
that build financial confidence and capability

What you will need to have:

  • Relevant training/qualification in financial mentoring
  • Knowledge of budgeting, saving, debt management, and credit contracts
  • Astute communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to inspire and motivate people to achieve their goals
  • Ability to advocate, network and build positive community relationships
  • Knowledge of New Zealand’s health system and local community groups and resources
  • Commitment to The Treaty of Waitangi and understanding of tikanga Māori
