As part of the global organisation, Colas Ireland is primarily involved the distribution of bitumen products, emulsion and emulsifier manufacturing, and the provision of specialist road maintenance services on the national, regional and local road network. We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to oversee the financial management and control of the Colas Contracting and Colas Bitumen Emulsions Business Units. Reporting to the Head of BUs and working closely with the Ireland Finance team, you will ensure timely, accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, and strong internal controls. This pivotal role drives financial strategy, performance and governance, while providing operational and commercial support to enable informed decision‑making across the organisation.
You will produce monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, analyse performance against budgets and forecasts, and prepare statutory accounts. Working with Group reporting systems, you will manage audits, control overheads, reserves and capital expenditure, while maintaining robust cash management processes. You will ensure compliance with statutory, tax and payroll requirements, collaborate with operations and commercial teams to deliver accurate reporting, and promote the value of the Finance function. Supporting the bid team, you will review tenders with a focus on margins, overhead recovery and cash flow, and monitor contract performance from tender stage to completion. As a leader, you will manage and develop the finance team, fostering a high‑performance culture focused on accountability and continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will be a professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with at least five years’ post‑qualification experience in a construction or industrial environment. You will have strong financial and commercial acumen, excellent analytical skills, advanced Excel proficiency, and experience in month‑end and balance sheet reconciliation. Familiarity with Irish and UK regulatory frameworks, as well as ERP systems such as COPERNIC / JADE, is desirable. You will be detail‑focused, proactive, organised and resilient under pressure, able to prioritise effectively and adapt to changing business needs, with a strong sense of ownership for delivering outcomes.
