
The Division of Finance (DOF) is overhauling how we track and report financial data statewide. We are seeking a collaborative and critical-thinking Financial Systems Analyst to help restructure our statewide Chart of Accounts (COA) and modernize our data warehouse. In this role, you will be the bridge between our accounting teams and technical systems—helping state agencies standardize their financial data with minimal disruption while building out modern dashboards using tools like Power BI..
The ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual that possesses a strong business analysis toolkit combined with a foundational understanding of core accounting principles (e.g., debits/credits, general ledger, and Chart of Accounts structures) and is eager to expand on their technical and accounting skillsets. You will work directly with financial data, state agencies, and technical systems to help design, test, and implement unified updates that ensure cross-agency consistency, accurate statewide reporting, and compliance with accounting standards.

Duties of a Financial Information Systems Analyst may include:Assist in the comprehensive restructure of the statewide Chart of Accounts (COA) to ensure consistent usage across all state agencies.Develop and communicate implementation plans that transition agencies to standardized accounting structures with minimal operational disruption.Provide support for the rollout of statewide financial initiatives, operational updates, and policy changes across diverse state agency environments.Work closely with agency stakeholders to understand local operational workflows, unique system logic, and agency-specific accounting nuances.Evaluate cross-agency financial processes to identify discrepancies, operational bottlenecks, and opportunities for standardized reporting.Perform post-implementation audits on transactional data across agencies to ensure compliance with centralized guidelines and flag reporting errors.Provide testing support and validation of centralized financial updates within each agency’s specific accounting software and modules.Help manage cross-agency change by creating standard operating procedures (SOPs), end-user training guides, and system reference materials.Facilitate communication between non-technical agency personnel and technical development teams to resolve implementation roadblocks.Provide support to users on access to the State finance data warehouse, custom queries, and reporting requests.Help design, develop, and maintain reports, frameworks, and dashboards using business intelligence tools like PowerBI and Microsoft Excel.Contribute to the modernization of the state’s data warehousing and BI infrastructure.
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Accounting, Finance, or a related field;OR3 -5 years of experience in business analysis, data analysis, or a related position.Accounting & Systems Aptitude: Strong grasp of general ledger (GL) principles combined with the ability to quickly learn, navigate, and troubleshoot multiple financial accounting systems. Data Literacy: Ability to work with structured financial data, understand relational data concepts, and analyze general ledger information across systems.Technical Agility: Demonstrated track record of self-directed learning or rapid onboarding onto new software tools, platforms, or analytical applications.Problem-Solving Skills: Comfort working with non-standardized datasets, troubleshooting data discrepancies, and translating raw data into meaningful financial insights.Preferred QualificationsProficiency in advanced Microsoft Excel (Power Query, XLOOKUP, data modeling).Functional proficiency with relational databases and SQL queries to extract data across multiple systems.Experience with BI dashboarding tools (Power BI, Tableau) and data transformation techniques.Familiarity with Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) guidelines and public sector financial reporting structures.Experience in system integration, system migration, or data crosswalk project environments.
