We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Financial Engineer
Purpose of the role
- Analytics, Digital & Architecture (ADA), Global Finance is a global team and Centre of Excellence in Finance responsible for shaping the future of financial analytics and engineering, driving innovation, and delivering unparalleled insights that empower strategic decision making within Global Finance. The ADA team supports Global Finance by developing sophisticated, high-quality models, analytics capabilities, and innovative analytics, providing seamless development through deployment pipelines, and implementing best practices in Model Governance and ongoing monitoring. The team is also driving the business architecture and helping IT with the technical architecture. With an impressive, varied book of work across ADA we are on the lookout for a Financial Engineer, with the primary objective of supporting this initiative. The job holder will be required to work closely with our modelling teams to understand in detail our models, support modelling in delivering these models within our software engineering best practice standards, leading the initiative to ensure our models are efficient and scalable, implement best practice CI/CD pipelines to ensure we have stable production deployments, support the testing and BAU support as required throughout model deliveries.
In this role, you will:
- Work closely with our modelling teams to understand these models in detail. Support modelling in delivering these models within our software engineering best practice standards. Leading the initiative to ensure our models are efficient and scalable.
- Develop and maintain applications using Python for back-end. Design and implement RESTful APIs and integrate third-party services. Implement best practice CI/CD pipelines to ensure we have stable production deployments Support the testing and BAU support as required throughout model deliveries. Utilize programming skills to automate and streamline software development processes related to global finance, optimizing efficiency and minimizing risks.
- Collaborate effectively with stakeholders across business units, IT, and data science to translate requirements into technical solutions, ensuring alignment with business goals. Maintain a strong understanding of current software engineering best practices, cloud technologies (if applicable), and financial markets to keep systems innovative and efficient.
- Provide strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges within the software financial engineering domain. Work independently and manage your time effectively to meet project deadlines for all developments. Communicate complex technical concepts related to software engineering clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Effective relationship management with stakeholders to ensure timely flow of information and continuous feedback mechanism - Managing the on-time service delivery. Work with business stakeholders to obtain deep understanding of requirements. Work very closely with business stakeholders for the proofs of concepts and testing stages.
- Closely collaborate with quantitative analysts, project managers, and IT to ensure solutions are performing as expected and delivered on time. Accountable for output being in accordance with the strategic outcomes as defined and communicated by the department’s senior managers and offering expertise to help determine such strategies.
- Influence and escalate key issues in an effective way to ensure timely resolution. Promote a culture of continuous, constructive challenge. Embrace change alongside the business to drive delivery of benefits. Promote a high-performance culture and an environment for knowledge sharing, learning and development.
- Act as a lead with the capability to communicate effectively with other team members and stakeholders across varying levels of experience and across multiple locations – Promote collaborations. Represent the team in working groups and other committees as required, including presenting demos. Be proactive in volunteering opinions and thoughts in team discussions. Support hiring and talent development from ADA perspective.
To be successful you will:
- Bachelor/ master’s degree in computer science. Proven experience in designing, developing, and deploying software applications. Strong understanding of software development lifecycle methodologies
- 1+ years of experience in back-end development, with expertise Python. Strong understanding of Python concepts, including OOPS. Experience with framework like FastAPI, RM.
- Experience with testing frameworks and libraries like pytest and unnittest. Experience with building APIs and microservice architecture is essential
- Experience with database technologies (SQL, NSQL) such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, etc.
- Experience in DevOps and CI/CD pipelines is essential. Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is essential.
- Experience with large data processing technologies.
- Familiarity with cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Familiarity with Java & Springboot.
