Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our Division Accounting Team as a Financial Data Analyst!
About the role
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys improving processes, working with large datasets, and driving automation in a growing, evolving environment. You’ll play a key role in modernizing accounting workflows, increasing efficiency, and enhancing data accuracy across the department.
What you will do
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability within the accounting function
- Analyze and convert manual processes into automated, data-driven solutions
- Partner with cross-functional teams to support data analysis, reporting, and process optimization initiatives
- Develop and maintain management reports, dashboards, and support documentation
- Work with large datasets to deliver actionable insights and support decision-making
- Assist in documenting existing workflows and recommending improvements
- Support ad hoc analysis and special projects as needed

Compensation
Salary Range: $79,900 - $133,200 base plus eligibility for the company annual bonus program.
Qualifications
Who You Are:
- High School Diploma is required, plus a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Data Analytics preferred (or equivalent experience)
- Proven ability to analyze and work with large, complex datasets
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Effective communicator with strong written and verbal skills
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently while also collaborating in a team environment
- Strong technical skills, including:
- Advanced Excel, T-SQL (required)
- Python, Power BI, and Snowflake (preferred)
- Experience with accounting systems such as Lawson (a plus)
