Job Description

Key purpose:

As a Financial Data Analyst, you'll analyse data and develop analytical models to provide financial reporting, forecasts and risk management. You will have experience in either an analyst or senior role within the finance department of a large organisation. You should also be fluent in SQL and familiar with R programming language.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Acquire data from legacy data sources, analyse patterns in line with desired outcomes and assist with translation / mapping to new solution utilising predefined mapping logic
  • Financial understanding a prerequisite for analysis of data as overall balancing and reconciliation is critical
  • Understand data available from product related legacy systems and how data fields can be combined to provide the required financial dimensions to support the SAP financial requirements
  • Work with business finance colleagues to understand the data from legacy financial system to new solution
  • Problem solving skills to troubleshoot misaligned information is required
  • Ability to utilise tools such as Advanced Excel, Power Query or SQL to simulate and manipulate large volumes of data
  • Design and participate in all levels of testing of the overall mapping effort to support the overall accuracy of the mapping and migration process
  • Responsibility for the migration of financial data and the ability to support queries from business as part of the process
  • Responsibility for the creation of new master data, adhering to the current business processes and master data principles
  • Support business on queries logged and month end processes with regards to financial data queries, including assisting with journals to correct data where required
  • Execute and support the data load requirement for (Historic data loads,Parallel Run data loads,Cutover data loads)
  • Performs financial and operations analysis to support the development and maintenance of enterprise architecture, business processes, and supply chain management
  • Analyzes data for trends, patterns, or anomalies to create customized solutions for clients in order to improve forecasting, reporting, and communication
  • Understands the challenges facing different users and how to organize analyses to meet those objectives
  • Monitors and analyzes external sources of information such as economic indicators, government reports, and local/regional news sources to provide direction to IT Financial Analysis activities

Qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, Business or a related field required
  • 5 years of relevant work experience in a financial environment
  • 5 years experience in accounting, financial analysis, and/or research preferred
  • Relevant experience with large data sets
  • Relevant experience in project delivery
  • Understanding of financial business processes
  • Excellent data skills
  • Solid financial background (Basic accounting principles - understanding of income statement and balance sheet)
  • Solid accounting knowledge
  • Must be familiar with the principles and techniques of accounting and finance
  • Experience in Excel and/or SQL
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PCSXR
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of financial reporting and data analysis in a company with financial responsibility needs; proficiency in Excel, Access, and other databases required
  • Experience as a financial analyst in a B2B environment
  • Experience with accounting systems and/or software packages such as Quickbooks, Sage 50, Xero, etc., is preferred
