The financial crime landscape is evolving rapidly. Regulators, governments and organisations are facing increasingly sophisticated threats across money laundering, sanctions evasion, fraud, bribery and corruption, and wider economic crime.

At PA, we help clients navigate these challenges by combining deep domain expertise with consulting, technology and delivery excellence. As a Financial Crime Consultant, you will work alongside experienced practitioners on some of the most pressing financial crime challenges facing organisations today. You will gain exposure across the spectrum of financial crime disciplines, develop strong consulting capabilities and contribute to meaningful outcomes for clients and society.

The Opportunity

As a Financial Crime Consultant, you will support clients in understanding, managing and mitigating financial crime risks.

You will work across a broad range of engagements covering anti-money laundering, sanctions, fraud, bribery and corruption, customer due diligence, governance, risk management, regulatory change and financial crime transformation.

You will help clients assess risks, enhance frameworks, improve controls and deliver practical solutions that meet regulatory expectations while supporting business objectives.

Working within multidisciplinary teams, you will contribute to client deliverables, facilitate workshops, undertake analysis, conduct research and support senior stakeholders in addressing complex financial crime challenges.

What You Will Be Doing

You will have opportunities to:

• Support the delivery of financial crime advisory, transformation and regulatory engagements.
• Assess financial crime risks and control frameworks across multiple financial crime disciplines.
• Review and develop policies, standards, procedures and governance arrangements.
• Conduct research and analysis relating to financial crime regulation, industry developments and emerging risks.
• Support financial crime risk assessments, gap analyses and framework reviews.
• Contribute to operating model, process and control design initiatives.
• Help clients respond to regulatory change and evolving supervisory expectations.
• Produce high-quality reports, presentations and client deliverables.
• Support and facilitate client workshops and stakeholder interviews.
• Collaborate with colleagues across risk, compliance, transformation, digital and data and operations disciplines.

Examples of our work include:

• Supporting financial institutions in strengthening AML, sanctions and fraud frameworks.
• Advising organisations on financial crime governance, risk and control effectiveness.
• Delivering regulatory reviews and transformation programmes.
• Designing and implementing target operating models for financial crime functions.
• Supporting regulators and public sector bodies in addressing economic crime challenges.
• Helping clients leverage data, technology and analytics to enhance financial crime outcomes.

Qualifications

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for curious, commercially minded and collaborative individuals who have a genuine interest in financial crime and regulatory compliance.

You may currently work within a financial institution, payment firm, consultancy, regulator, government body or another organisation with exposure to financial crime risk management.

Essential Experience

• Understanding of financial crime risks, including anti-money laundering, sanctions, bribery and corruption, and fraud.
• Knowledge of financial crime regulatory and legal frameworks.
• Experience within financial services, consulting, regulatory or related environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to interpret information, identify risks and develop practical recommendations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience producing high-quality reports, presentations and client-facing deliverables.
• Strong organisational and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in teams and adapt to changing client requirements.

Desirable Experience

• Exposure to regulatory reviews, transformation programmes or regulatory change initiatives.
• Experience working with or supporting regulators.
• Knowledge of UK financial crime regulations and guidance.
• Experience across multiple financial crime disciplines including AML, sanctions, fraud, and bribery and corruption.
• Understanding of financial crime technology, data or analytics solutions.
• Professional qualifications such as ICA, ACAMS, CFE or equivalent.
