
We’re seeking someone to join our team as a Director, Financial Crime Compliance – PWM Client Risk Unit in Legal & Compliance (Global Financial Crimes) to lead the oversight of high-risk client onboarding and due diligence across the Private Wealth Management business in Hong Kong.
In the Legal & Compliance division, we assist the Firm in achieving its business objectives by facilitating and overseeing the Firm’s management of legal, regulatory and franchise risk. This is a Director level position within the Global Financial Crimes (GFC) team, which is responsible for the governance, oversight and execution of the Firm’s AML, sanctions, anti-corruption, anti-tax evasion, and political activities compliance programs globally, with a focus on Private Wealth Management (PWM) client risk management.

What you'll do in the role:
Oversee the PWM Client Risk Unit (CRU) and act as the primary escalation point in Hong Kong for high-risk client reviews across onboarding, periodic reviews, and trigger events
Manage, develop, and coach the CRU team to strengthen subject matter expertise and execution of financial crime controls
Advise the business on transactional due diligence for clients, counterparties, co-investors, and target assets
Supervise KYC and enhanced due diligence processes, including assessment of financial crime risk for high-risk clients
Develop, review, and implement policies and procedures aligned with regulatory requirements and Firm standards
Deliver training and guidance to business units, Risk, Operations, and other stakeholders on financial crime compliance obligations
Monitor regulatory developments and assess impact on PWM business activities
Support regulatory examinations, internal audits, and inquiries, including oversight of documentation and responses
What you'll bring to the role:
Bachelor’s degree
Experience in Financial Crime Compliance within financial institutions, banking, or private wealth management
Strong knowledge of Hong Kong AML/CFT and sanctions regulatory frameworks
Experience in managing and developing teams, including cross-border collaboration
Ability to advise on complex client due diligence and transaction-related risk matters
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills
At least 8–10 years’ relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role
