Job Title Financial Crime Business Analyst

Location London/Northampton

About the Job you are considering:
The Business Analyst – Financial Crime supports the successful delivery of Financial Crime transformation and regulatory change initiatives across KYC, AML, Sanctions, Client Onboarding, and broader risk and control-focused programmes. The role is responsible for requirements analysis, process assessment, impact evaluation, and supporting controlled delivery of business and technology change.

Working closely with Compliance, Operations, Technology, Product Owners, Risk teams, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), the Business Analyst ensures that regulatory obligations, business objectives, and operational requirements are accurately translated into high-quality solutions that strengthen the Financial Crime control environment.

Hybrid working:

The places that you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of Company offices, client sites, and your home; noting that you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.

Your Role:

Business Analysis & Requirements Management

• Support the definition of project scope, business analysis approach, and required BA deliverables.
• Conduct requirements gathering through workshops, stakeholder interviews, process walkthroughs, and document analysis.
• Produce clear, concise, and testable business requirements, functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Ensure requirements align with regulatory obligations, internal policies, and strategic business objectives.
• Maintain end-to-end requirements traceability throughout analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation phases.
• Support prioritization and management of requirements across multiple workstreams.

Financial Crime & Regulatory Analysis

• Analyze Financial Crime business processes covering KYC, AML, Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), Sanctions Screening, and onboarding controls.
• Assess regulatory impacts and support interpretation of policy requirements into business processes and controls.
• Identify compliance risks, control weaknesses, process gaps, and remediation opportunities.
• Contribute to regulatory change initiatives and control enhancement programmes.
• Support the implementation of sustainable solutions that improve risk management and regulatory compliance.

Process Improvement & Control Design

• Document and maintain accurate As-Is process flows and control frameworks.
• Support the design and validation of To-Be processes focused on efficiency, control effectiveness, and operational excellence.
• Perform gap analysis, root cause analysis, and impact assessments.
• Evaluate dependencies across systems, processes, controls, and operational functions.
• Recommend process improvements that drive simplification, consistency, and risk reduction.

Your Skills:

Essential

• Proven Business Analysis experience within Financial Services, Banking, Risk, Compliance, or Regulatory Change environments.
• Strong experience in requirements elicitation, documentation, process analysis, and stakeholder management.
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex business issues into structured requirements and actionable solutions.
• Experience facilitating workshops and working with cross-functional teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Understanding of Financial Crime disciplines including KYC, AML, CDD, EDD, Sanctions, or Client Onboarding processes.
• Experience supporting project delivery through analysis, testing, and implementation phases.

Desirable

• Experience supporting Financial Crime regulatory change programmes.
• Knowledge of control design, control remediation, and risk reduction initiatives.
• Exposure to operating model design, workflow optimization, or enterprise process modelling.
• Experience working within Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery methodologies.
• Background in major banking or financial services institutions.
• Understanding of regulatory frameworks and compliance obligations impacting Financial Crime operations.
