Job Description


Researches availability of financial assistance programs and/or charity options when applicable to assist patients and/or family members. Coordinates the collection of information and scanning process into the Financial Assistance workflow to obtain appropriate approvals. Works in tandem with the state employee and personnel from other departments. Handles patient inquiries and assists to resolve issues and/or concerns.
 
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education High School graduate or equivalent.
Minimum Work Experience: One year's experience in a hospital, insurance or office environment preferred.
Required Licenses/Certifications: None
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Ability to interpret and generate written correspondence utilizing proper grammer, spelling, an composition skills. Knowledge of Payer guidlines required. Computer knowledge required. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Good comminicaiton skills essential Prior experience involving public contact. Abililty to operate office equipment, such as copy machines, face machines, and printers
Preferred Qualification: Experience with automated systems preferred. Medical terminology preferred.
 
JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
1. Demonstrates an understanding of and adherence to the HMHD Compliance Plan.
2. Conduct reflects HMHD's values and a commitment to HMHD's Code of Conduct.
3. Attends the required corporate integrity and compliance training and education programs.
4. Demonstrates proficiency in understanding the materials presented during the corporate integrity and compliance training and education program.
5. Complies with all HIPAA standards.
6. Actively participates in performance improvement, as requested; i.e. attends PI "LEAN" Committee meetings, submits quarterly reports, conducts audits, etc.
7. Maintains knowledge of current regulatory standards as they pertain to the department(s) and assures compliance and communication of standards.
8. Identifies departmental performance improvement opportunities and assist with the PI process.
9. Serve as a counselor to financially assist patients, focusing on state guidelines and Hospital District policies.

11. Prepare Financial Assistance forms and gather necessary financial information within required timeline. Presents to director for approval.
12. Stays within the budget Charity guidelines on a monthly basis.
13. Interpret and ensure compliance with payer guidelines for accurate input.
14. Monitor in-house accounts to ensure that financial arrangements are complete.
15. Verifies and updates financial information when necessary.
16. Obtains required Texas Rehabilitation information and mail to appropriate State Representative within the required timelines.
17. Monitors Texas Rehabilitation accounts daily.
18. Maintain and ensure the Financial Assistance physician billing process is completed accurately and throughly.
19. Utilize collection strategies with a focus on constant improvement.
20. Works in tandem with the state employee, hospital vendors and personnel from other departments.
21. Handles patient inquiries and assist to resolve issues and/or concerns.
22. Attends scheduled departmental meetings.
23. Resolve issues and/or concerns amicably in a timely manner. Involve PFS Leaders when needed.
24. Promote and demonstrate excellent customer service at all times with internal and external customers to include patients, family members, physicians, co-workers and all other customers.
25. Communicates effectively and expresses ideas clearly, actively listens and follows appropriate channels of communicating.
26. Adaptable and responsive to change.
27. Uses time clock accurately and is punctual on a consistent basis.
28. Demonstrates a positive attitude in all assigned task and towards others.
29. Follows "Call-In" policy by notifying PFS Leader of absence.
30. Absences during evaluation period: 0-6 Occurrences = Meets Requirements. 7 or more Occurrences = Does not meet requirements
31. Adheres to hospital and department dress code. Maintains a professional appearance at all times.
32. Consistently contributes to the achievement of excellence in healthcare through the quality and caring values of the mission and vision job Hunt Memorial Hospital district.
33. Performs special duties and projects as assigned.
