THE POSITION ROLE PROFILE: Finance Controller
As Financial Controller you will be reporting directly to the Director of Finance. The FC’s responsibilities will include accurate and timely month end reporting and ensuring compliance to corporate standards and processes. The perfect candidate will have solid hands on experience within various aspects of accounting, with superior analytical skills, a strong work ethic and great interpersonal skills. Exposure to software related accounting and project accounting would be an asset. As part of a small Finance team supporting a fast-paced business, the FC will be expected to support the wider Finance Organization on tasks outside of the core responsibilities herein, as discussed and agreed with the Director of Finance, to ensure adequate coverage at peak times and holiday cover. The position will be based in South Africa and is currently a full time remote working role.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES: Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
• Responsible for the full accounting process from daily ledger activities to annual statutory filings, including review of payroll and payroll related filings
• Ownership of the month end cycle, ensuring timely closing, reconciliations, reporting and analysis across all ledgers
• Accountable for project accounting and controlling, ensuring adherence to IFRS 15 and CSI policies
• Ensure compliance of external reporting and requirements in accordance with IFRS
• Ensure accurate tax records are maintained and filed for VAT, Income Taxes and Corporation tax, and engage with external advisors as required
• Continuous review and improvement of processes and controls introducing automation wherever possible
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes, provide inputs and analysis
• Focus on debtor management, working capital improvement and cash management Qualification and skills:
• Accounting designation – Bcom Accounting degree with SAICA articles experience/ SAIPA
• Advanced knowledge of Excel is essential
• Experience of Oracle NetSuite and Xero being an asset
• Excellent analytical and communication skills
• Proven track record of automating and improving processes
• In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, practices and applications under IFRS, specifically IFRS15
• Attention to detail with an emphasis on time management to effectively meet timelines
• Self-driven, motivated, adaptable to change and able to handle a demanding work schedule
