About the Role
As a Financial Controller at DFDS, you will have the opportunity to grow in an international environment and collaborate with colleagues across the organisation.
You will work closely with the local Finance Business Partner and colleagues in our DBS organisation in Poland, ensuring high-quality financial reporting, compliance, and continuous process improvements. Together with the Finance Business Partner, you will maintain a strong understanding of the business and support informed decision-making through reliable financial information.
A significant part of your work will be related to month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, reviewing financial results, ensuring the accuracy of balance sheet and profit and loss accounts, and maintaining compliance with internal and external requirements.
Key Responsibilities
• Full responsibility for ensuring that Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual financial reporting is completed on time and with the highest quality for assigned legal entities.
• Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, including manual journal entries, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, and other accounting adjustments.
• Work closely with the Finance Business Partner, maintaining a shared understanding of business performance and providing a reliable financial foundation for decision-making.
• Ensure the quality and accuracy of financial data and ensure well-documented accounting records to support reliable reporting, forecasting, and budgeting processes.
• Prepare and document annual statutory financial statements in accordance with Finnish legislation and coordinate the audit process with external auditors.
• Work closely with colleagues in the DBS Finance Shared Service Centre in Poland to ensure reporting deadlines are met, maintain high-quality financial reporting, and continuously improve ways of working and collaboration.
• Ensure compliance with tax and VAT regulations, including timely reporting to relevant authorities.
• Prepare monthly and yearly income tax calculations.
• Improve and maintain strong internal controls, accounting procedures, and compliance with DFDS Group policies and requirements. Locally responsible for internal audit processes.
• Drive finance function efficiency by improving local finance effectiveness and supporting the standardisation and migration of additional activities to the Finance Shared Service Centre when applicable.
About You
We are looking for a colleague with a degree in accounting, finance, or a related field and a minimum of five years of relevant experience within accounting, financial reporting, audit, or a similar finance role.
You communicate fluently, both verbally and in writing, in Finnish and English.
You are an experienced user of ERP systems and Excel and have a strong understanding of accounting principles, statutory reporting requirements, and financial controls.
Experience within the logistics, transportation, or supply chain industry is considered an advantage.
You have a solid accounting background and enjoy working with reconciliations, financial controls, and delivering accurate and reliable financial reporting.
