As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced and commercially focused Financial Controller to join our Finance team and play a key role in supporting the financial success of the Group.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, partnering with senior stakeholders, and driving continuous improvement across finance processes.

The Role

As Financial Controller, you will take overall responsibility for the financial accounting function across the Group, ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting, and compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements. You'll work closely with senior leadership, providing high-quality financial information and insights to support strategic decision making.

Reporting into the Finance Director, you will oversee accounting operations across multiple Group entities while managing key external relationships including auditors, banking partners and tax advisors.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Control

• Lead the production of consolidated accounts across multiple Group businesses.
• Ensure all statutory accounting records are maintained accurately and in accordance with relevant legislation.
• Review monthly management accounts and provide challenge and support where required.
• Maintain and strengthen internal financial controls, accounting policies and business processes.
• Oversee month-end close activities and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Manage year-end statutory accounts and audit preparation.

Cashflow & Working Capital Management

• Lead cashflow forecasting across daily, weekly and monthly timeframes.
• Manage purchase ledger, aged debt and intercompany balances.
• Monitor stock holding and working capital performance.
• Produce monthly cashflow reports for senior leadership.
• Oversee VAT compliance and reporting requirements.

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

• Lead and develop members of the finance team, ensuring clear objectives and development plans are in place.
• Support colleagues across the wider business to ensure efficient finance processes and successful month-end close.
• Build effective working relationships with auditors, insurers, banks and professional advisors.
• Ensure finance procedures remain fit for purpose through continuous improvement initiatives.

Strategic Support

• Provide financial analysis to support projects, acquisitions, disposals and new business ventures.
• Deliver meaningful financial insight to support business growth and decision-making.
• Stay up to date with accounting standards and regulatory developments.

What We're Looking For

Essential

• ACA or ACCA qualified.
• Degree educated (minimum 2:1 or equivalent).
• Strong technical accounting knowledge.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Experience producing financial and statutory reporting within a complex business environment.

Desirable

• Sage experience.
• Experience working across multiple entities or within a group structure.
• Previous team leadership experience.
