About the Department

The Finance function supports strategic decision-making, financial control, regulatory compliance and performance management across Aberdeen. Working closely with business leaders and specialist finance teams, the department delivers accurate reporting, strong governance and financial insight that supports sustainable growth. Collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement are at the heart of how the team operates, helping enable our clients to be better investors.

About the Role

As a Financial Controller within the Group Financial Reporting and Control team, you will support the financial management, governance and reporting of Aberdeen’s Luxembourg legal entities. Based in Edinburgh, you will work closely with colleagues in Luxembourg, Finance Operations teams, auditors and advisers to deliver high-quality financial reporting, statutory accounts and regulatory submissions. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant looking to broaden their exposure to investment management, international legal entities and technical accounting while building strong stakeholder relationships and influencing control improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly journals, financial reporting packs, accounting workpapers and management commentary for Luxembourg legal entities.
• Deliver statutory accounts, regulatory returns, board reporting materials and audit support within agreed deadlines.
• Review and challenge legal entity P&L and balance sheet information, ensuring financial integrity, accuracy and robust controls.
• Partner with Tax, Finance Operations and external service providers to support compliance, transfer pricing and risk management activities.
• Contribute to budgeting, profitability analysis and process improvement initiatives that enhance the effectiveness of the finance function.
• Build strong relationships across EMEA finance teams and support ad hoc projects and business priorities.

About the Candidate

• Qualified Accountant (CA, ACCA or equivalent) with experience in financial control, financial reporting or commercial finance within financial services. (essential)
• Strong understanding of IFRS, GAAP and financial reporting principles. (essential)
• Excellent analytical skills with advanced Excel capability and confidence working with financial systems such as Oracle. (essential)
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders. (essential)
• Audit background (desirable)
• French language skills (desirable)
