About the Role:

We are seeking a qualified Financial Controller to join our team.

The Financial Controller will be responsible for day to day finance activities to support the CEO and Senior Leadership team as well as preparation of the annual report and managing the audit process, the annual budget, monthly finance reports to management and the board, and working with advisers to manage income tax and R&D refund claims.

The Financial Controller will also play a key role in providing timely and accurate reporting for the Board and investors, as well as providing critical insights to support decision making.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accountancy and demonstrate exceptional analytical skills to drive financial performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the full month-end and year-end close process, delivering accurate and timely management accounts, board reporting packs, and statutory financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards (AASB/IFRS).
  • Lead multi-entity, multi-currency financial consolidation across globally distributed operations, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and compliance with local regulatory requirements across all operating jurisdictions.
  • Manage the annual external audit process, acting as the primary liaison with auditors and ensuring the company meets its obligations as a public unlisted entity, including ASIC statutory reporting and shareholder compliance requirements.
  • Drive the annual budgeting and forecasting cycle in partnership with the CEO and senior leadership, maintaining rolling forecasts, scenario modelling, and variance analysis to support strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Oversee R&D tax incentive claims and manage the capitalisation of development costs in accordance with applicable accounting standards, ensuring accurate treatment, thorough documentation, and compliance across all eligible programs and jurisdictions.
  • Maintain robust cash flow management and working capital oversight, including SaaS revenue metric reporting, billing operations, and financial covenant compliance to ensure strong business health.
  • Establish, maintain, and continuously improve internal controls, financial policies, and governance frameworks appropriate for a scaling, globally distributed business operating across multiple regulatory environments.
  • Manage payroll, statutory obligations, and benefits administration across multiple jurisdictions, partnering with HR and external advisors to ensure ongoing compliance with local employment and tax legislation.
  • Provide commercial finance support to the executive team, including margin analysis, cost of sales reporting, headcount planning, and ad hoc financial modelling, to underpin growth strategy and investor commitments.
  • Serve as the primary financial interface with the PE investor and Board, preparing investor reporting packs, supporting due diligence processes, and contributing to fundraising, M&A activity, and strategic growth initiatives as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, CA, ACCA).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial management role.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and compliance.
  • Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

This is a remote role, but will require some in office hours from time to time as required to meet the requirements of the role, this will usually be on the Gold Coast or Brisbane location.
