Come work as a Financial Analyst, Finance Physician Compensation with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!

Reporting to the Director, Corporate Finance, the Financial Analyst will be responsible for providing financial, accounting and analytical support relating to physician contracts and funding. This includes programs funded by the Ministry’s Alternative Payments Program, such as Clinical Service Contracts, Sessions and other Ministry programs, such as MOCAP, Rural Programs, as well as physician services funded by Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH), such as administrative services and non-Ministry funded service contracts. Responsibilities include analyzing and evaluating the utilization of physician contract funding allocations, and supporting the provision of relevant information to other areas of VCH to ensure transparency and clear decision making.

As a Financial Analyst, Finance Physician Compensation with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Perform and present a variety of period-end as well as ad-hoc analyses and reconciliations related to physician compensation in order to understand variances between actual and budgeted results to facilitate financial management of physician contracts by Medical leadership
  • Be responsible for processing payments relating to various types of physician compensation including but not limited to: sessions, MOCAP, administrative stipends, and other Ministry programs.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial accounting and reporting of transactions relating to various physician contracts for period-end as well as year-end reporting.
  • Ensure the accuracy and confidentiality of information and the integration of information from various sources.
  • Assist in compiling and evaluating the utilization of physician contract funding allocations and provides support of various reporting initiative including submission of required reporting to the Ministry of Health.
  • Compile a variety of information and reports on findings by entering and extracting data from various sources; develops complex queries, manipulates data, and provide analysis and recommendations based on the information.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports for both internal and external reporting purposes (e.g., Medical Leadership, SLT, SET, MOH)
  • Assist in completing the physician contract revenue analysis including coordinating with PHSA Revenue Services as well as external billing agent for physician billing information.
  • Carry out responsibilities in accordance with health and safety requirements. Immediately report unsafe situations by notifying supervisor or other appropriate personnel.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field or finalist in a recognized professional accounting program (CPA) supplemented by ERP related Information Systems courses and three (3) to five (5) years’ recent, related experience within a large organization or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience.
  • Proficient knowledge/experience working with complex financial computer systems and Excel required.

  • Skilled ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to all levels of the organization and various audiences to provide accounting expertise.
  • Proficient Excel skills and computer skills including the ability to access and manipulate data from various systems for financial management and reporting purposes at an intermediate level
  • Strong ability to work in a time sensitive, multi-project environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with others in a consultative/collaborative manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, problem-solve and prioritize work.
