Job Description

The Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting expense management, budgeting, forecasting, and tax compliance activities across the firm. Reporting to the Financial Analysis Manager, this role provides financial analysis, prepares routine and ad hoc reporting, supports expense management activities, assists with budget development, and supports compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements. The analyst works closely with Accounts Payable, General Ledger, department leaders, and external tax partners to ensure the accuracy of financial information, support budget monitoring activities, and assist with compliance with applicable tax regulations. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to translate financial data into comprehensible deliverables for varying audiences. This team member must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment, managing time-sensitive materials while maintaining strict confidentiality due to the nature of the position.

***Salary in the range of $65,000 - $90,000 dependent on location and experience level***

Essential Job Duties:

  • Partner with the Financial Analysis Manager to support the firm's annual budgeting and periodic forecasting activities.
  • Assist with the collection, validation, analysis, and maintenance of budget data, including personnel, benefits, operating expenses, and departmental budget submissions.
  • Collaborate with department leaders and budget stakeholders to collect, validate, and analyze information supporting budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and financial planning activities, including participation in periodic budget review meetings.
  • Maintain budget information within the firm's budgeting software and implement approved updates and revisions.
  • Prepare budget schedules, variance analyses, supporting documentation, and materials for the firm's annual budget book to support leadership review, decision-making, and financial planning activities.
  • Prepare, validate, and distribute recurring and ad hoc financial reports, dashboards, and analyses to support firm leadership and department management.
  • Develop presentations and reporting materials that communicate financial results and operational insights to a variety of audiences.
  • Monitor operating expenses and review financial data to support budget oversight, expense management, and financial reporting accuracy.
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial data within budgeting, reporting, and accounting systems while supporting ongoing reporting enhancements.
  • Review expense allocations and classifications to ensure consistency with budget assumptions, financial reporting requirements, and established tax reporting practices.
  • Assist in the preparation of schedules and supporting documentation required for federal, state, and local tax filings and regulatory reporting.
  • Review and validate financial data utilized in tax filings to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Assist in the review and compilation of annual partner tax package information.
  • Support responses to tax notices, audits, and regulatory inquiries by compiling, reconciling, and validating requested information.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve financial reporting, budgeting processes, and data quality.
  • Coordinate, support, and complete special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned by Finance and Firm leadership.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or other related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, accounting, financial reporting, or a related finance function.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with budgeting, financial reporting, and accounting systems.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive financial information.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate financial information effectively to financial and non-financial audiences.
  • Must be able to perform all essential duties.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in a law firm, professional services firm, or other partnership-based organization.
  • Experience supporting tax compliance, tax reporting, regulatory filings, or audit requests.
  • Experience with 3E, AFS, or Iridium.
  • Experience with business intelligence and data visualization tools such as Power BI.
  • Experience developing financial dashboards, databases, and reporting solutions.
