Job Title

Financial Analyst - Capital MarketsThe Capital Markets Financial Analyst will serve as dedicated support to a leading Washington DC-based broker team within Cushman & Wakefield’s Capital Markets Equity Debt & Structured Finance (EDSF) group. The team represents owners of all major property types with an emphasis on the Washington DC market, the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern U.S., and across the country.

The Financial Analyst will support all phases of the financing process, including preparing detailed financial analysis and valuations, assisting in preparing proposals for new business opportunities, creating marketing materials and debt models for new assignments and summarizing and distributing feedback of the broker’s marketing efforts to clients and lenders.

This role will be based in Washington DC, and the candidate must be available to work on-site in the Cushman & Wakefield office located at 2101 L Street NW. Team members may be expected to travel and work outside normal operating hours to meet project deadlines. The ideal candidate will have the desire to grow in the commercial real estate industry, have a strong background in financial analysis, excellent writing skills, be self-motivated with superb time management skills to prioritize deadlines, and have a strong work ethic.

Essential Duties

  • Prepare debt and/or equity offering memorandathat conveys all particulars of a transaction in a professionallywritten format presented to clients and lenders(financial projections, market and location issues, tenantanalysisand persuasively written summaries/highlights)

  • Manage the graphic design process of debt and equity memoranda in conjunction with a graphic designer, includingcreating tables, graphs and charts, and writingtechnical summariesof all particulars of a transaction

  • Prepare debtsizingstodeterminepossible financingoptions for each deal

  • Prepare financial models in Excel and Argus for clients which outline valuation and pricing structures

  • Assistin collecting and evaluating required due diligence for transactions, including makingnecessary inquiries to clients to ensure that required information is providedin atimelymanner

  • Prepare pro forma statements and projections which accurately reflecthistorical cash flow performanceof properties, as well as current and projected future market conditions

  • Research, analyze, and evaluate market feasibility for various real estate transactionsin a way thatsupportstherequest for financing of a given asset.

  • Understand and review real estate documents (leases, operating statements, rent rolls, loan documents, appraisals, etc.) todetermineif any issuesorinconsistencies exist

  • Generate weeklywrittenreports and updates to senior brokers oneach transaction’s marketingprogram status

  • Collect lenderandinvestor bids andsummarize them in detailedquotematrices

  • Prepare and manage lists of potential lenders, investors, and contactsfor use in marketing efforts

  • Contact and respond to lender requestsandquestions

  • Assistthe brokers in closing transactions including followingchecklistswhile interacting with lenders and clients tofacilitatean efficient closing.

  • Other duties as assigned

Other Requirements & Administrative Duties

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Business, Finance,Accounting,Real Estate, etc.) preferred, with a master’s degree orMBAa plus  

  • 1to2years ofcommercialreal estate financial analysis and/or financeexperiencepreferably with a commercial real estate firm engaged in consulting, appraisal, investing, lending, or brokerage Capital Markets experience a plus

  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy 

  • Ability tobuild,analyze, and summarizecomplex financial models in Excel and Argus

  • Strong written communication skills developing high-level analysis summaries

  • Passion for client delivery, with strong emphasis on producing high-quality work, meeting deadlines, and strong personal initiative to succeed in an entrepreneurial environment

  • Ability to function in a team-oriented setting while working independently with limited day-to-day supervision

  • Strong time management, organization, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to handle multiple projects at one time and work in a high-volume, fast past transaction-oriented environment

  • Takes charge and is proactive in all aspects of role

  • Growth oriented mindset, desire to learn and shares knowledge to help others succeed

  • Ability tomaintainattention to detail while working under tight deadlines

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; advance Excel skills preferred

  • Ability and willingness workextendedhours, including some weekends as needed

The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on factors such as whether the position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, the geographic area in which the work will be performed, market pay rates in that area, and the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.
