FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT/PAYROLL AND RECONCILIATIONS

This position is in the Fiscal Support bureau, reporting to Financial Management. This position is the senior accountant in the department’s Payroll and Reconciliations unit. The incumbent will be responsible for various payroll audits and functions, along with some of the more complex financial reconciliations in the bureau.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Providing daily assistance to management and members for all agency payroll services. Analyze and make recommendations to resolve payroll issues. Handle all aspects of the following payment types:
    • Biweekly payroll
    • Supplemental payroll
    • Uniform allowance
    • Leave payouts
  • Monitoring leave without pay and ensure salary overpayments are collected. Review all retroactive payments to verify accuracy. Process on-demand payments and warrant cancellations. Prepare wage certifications for worker’s compensation, unemployment and retirement benefit;
  • Performing all payroll related accounting functions. This includes reconciling accounting records between the Bureau of State Payrolls and departmental FLAIR; posting payroll transactions into FLAIR; auditing and vouchering payments for payroll invoices including retirement variances, unemployment compensation, temporary total disability, and other invoices; and
  • Performing various payroll audits and financial reconciliations to include:
    • Pay Differences Audit
    • Grant Cash & draw reconciliation
    • Pcard Scoped Compliance review
    • RDS User Audit
    • State Forfeitures
    • Ensure personnel on Military Leave receive appropriate compensation

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication;
  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection;
  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data;
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques;
  • Ability to operate computers and other office equipment;
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality;
  • Ability to work independently by planning, organizing, and coordinating work assignments;
  • Ability to prepare reports, flow charts, forms, spreadsheets, and other documents utilizing Microsoft Office Suite; and
  • Proficiency in Excel.

BASE SALARY:

  • $ 60,934.80

NOTES:

Starting salary will be at the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy. The elements of this selection process may include a work sample and/or interview. Future vacancies may be filled from this position advertisement.
