About the Role
MIRACORP, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Financial Analyst to provide support to the U.S. Department of Energy. This role supports DOE-ID and DOE-NE programs by evaluating project costs, monitoring budgets, reconciling financial data, and preparing reports that ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with federal financial management requirements.

Essential Functions
Financial Analysis & Budget Support
- Evaluate project costs and monitor budget execution
- Track university funding allocations and program expenditures
- Prepare financial reports, summaries, and cost projections
- Analyze financial trends and validate data integrity
Data Reconciliation & Compliance
- Reconcile financial data across federal systems (e.g., STARS and PICS:NE)
- Ensure compliance with DOE financial policies and federal accounting standards
- Support internal reviews, audits, and variance resolution
Program Coordination & Process Improvement
- Collaborate with program staff to improve financial processes
- Maintain spreadsheets, databases, and financial tracking tools
- Provide analytical support to DOE-ID and DOE-NE leadership as needed
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field and 2+ years of relevant experience OR Associate’s degree and 4 years OR 6 years of direct experience
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Knowledge of federal budgeting and accounting principles
- Experience with financial systems and reconciliation processes
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred
Qualifications
- Experience supporting DOE or other federal agencies
- Familiarity with STARS, PICS:NE, or other federal financial systems
- Experience preparing budget justifications or cost projections
