Job Description

  • Join a specialised finance team managing Qantas' global property leasing portfolio

We are currently seeking a Financial Analyst to join our Property Leasing Finance team within Financial Performance & Control. Reporting to the Senior Financial Analyst, you will be responsible for accounting, reporting and lease finance activities across Qantas' overseas property leasing portfolio.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant looking to further develop their technical accounting capability in a specialised area of Finance while gaining exposure to a large and complex corporate environment. You'll work closely with stakeholders across the business, supporting month-end reporting, lease accounting, reconciliations and process improvement initiatives.

You will

  • Manage accounting activities for the overseas property leasing portfolio
  • Prepare month-end journals, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Support lease accounting requirements in accordance with AASB 16
  • Assist with half-year and year-end financial reporting activities
  • Perform lease calculations, remeasurements and accounting assessments
  • Partner with stakeholders to support reporting requirements and finance-related queries
  • Contribute to forecasting, budgeting and analytical activities as required
  • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities
  • Support broader finance initiatives and projects across the team

You'll have

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
  • CA/CPA qualification or progress towards completion
  • 2-5 years' accounting or finance experience
  • Strong accounting fundamentals and financial reporting knowledge
  • Experience performing month-end close activities and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned responsibilities
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to explain financial concepts to stakeholders
  • Exposure to AASB 16 lease accounting desirable
  • Property or lease accounting experience desirable
