A Financial Analyst is responsible for analyzing financial data, preparing reports, forecasting business performance, and supporting strategic decision-making through insights on revenue, costs, and profitability.
Financial analysts typically:
Analyze financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
Prepare monthly/quarterly financial reports and dashboards
Build financial models for forecasting and budgeting
Track KPIs and business performance metrics
Conduct variance analysis (actual vs budget/forecast)
Support investment decisions and cost optimization
Assist in annual budgeting and long-term planning
Evaluate market trends, competitors, and business risks
Work with accounting, operations, and leadership teams
Strong Excel and financial modeling skills
Understanding of accounting principles
Analytical and problem-solving ability
Knowledge of valuation methods (DCF, comparables is a plus)
Familiarity with ERP tools (SAP, Oracle, etc. is a plus)
Data visualization tools (Power BI / Tableau preferred)
Strong communication and reporting skills
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
MBA / CFA is preferred for senior roles but not always required
